1. I understand that open registration for any upcoming school year begins April 1st and continues through August 31. After that date I must call the office to be sure registrations are still being accepted and to find out if there are any additional instructions or fees.
2. I understand that my application will not be considered completed and acceptance will not be final until I have paid registration in full; that student records will not be requested from the previous school until final acceptance of enrollment.
3. I understand that I must apply for membership in Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) by filling out a separate application for HSLDA and paying a separate fee directly to HSLDA (exception: families whose oldest child will not be six until after September 1 may choose to wait to apply until next school year). I understand that this must be done within one month of registration with Christian Heritage School, and under some circumstances may be made a prerequisite for CHS membership.
4. a. I understand that even though CHS has Educational Consultants available to help me discover what resources are available and may be appropriate for my needs, we as parents are responsible for making the ultimate decision on resources. (If I will be having a curriculum counseling meeting, I will come prepared to tell the consultant what I am interested in teaching.)
b. I understand that the law states I must “offer instruction in the several branches of study [i.e., subjects] required to be taught in the public schools,” that is, English, arithmetic, social sciences, science, fine arts, health and P.E. for high school.
Note: Curriculum counseling appointments will be given on a first-come first-served basis. Please allow plenty of lead time for your appointment, especially during the busy spring, summer and early fall months.
5. I understand that the form samples on the website show the types of paperwork required by CHS. I realize these are for my consideration prior to enrollment and that I will be given instructions and be able to download actual forms for use after completion of enrollment.
6. I understand that the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) may be required (for a fee) for any student for whom CHS feels it would be beneficial or helpful in curriculum placement.
7. I understand that at the beginning of my first year of membership only I will be required to either attend a one-time orientation meeting or read through the orientation information and submit a signed acknowledgement form.
8. I understand that Christian Heritage School (CHS) offers occasional student or family activities in which I may choose to participate (approximately one to two field trips per month plus other activities as available). Park days may or may not be offered by the school. I understand that it is my own personal responsibility to arrange any additional activities or field trips that I may feel my child needs. I understand that, if I desire, CHS will assist me in making contact with others interested in such additional activities.
Parents of students in kindergarten through 8th grade may stop here.
Parents of students in 9th through 12th grades please continue.
9. I understand that new home schooling high school students will be accepted only for 9th grade, 10th grade, and 11th grade; high school students are not generally accepted for the current semester once it has begun, and for grade 11, students will only be accepted at the beginning of the school year. Parents wanting to enroll students in grade 12 will be at the discretion of the school.
10. High school parents note: High school requirements are such that you cannot just “get by” without curriculum until sometime later. With school costs, HSLDA costs and curriculum costs, it will take a minimum investment to get started. If you do not have the money, do not proceed with registration at this time. If you wish to join this school, please wait until you have the funds available.
I understand the financial obligations and will be responsible to meet all requirements in the area of finances.
11. I understand that the Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) or the in house Basic Assessment Skills Evaluation (BASE) is required (for a fee) at time of enrollment for high school students new to CHS who do not have current standardized test scores available; this will help in assessing placement.
12. I understand that requirements for graduation with a CHS diploma and transcripts include achieving a measured level of proficiency and, unless otherwise contracted with the school, earning 220 traditional credits.
13. I understand that if a CHS diploma is not our family’s goal and a parent-issued diploma is, I MUST schedule a meeting with the educational consultant BEFORE 9th grade to review our family's plan and get it approved. If a parent-issued diploma is approved by the school I understand that I must create and keep my student's High School transcripts.
14. I understand that, should I choose the above option of a parent-issued diploma, that the school will NOT be able to provide a transcript to any trade school, college, or university or for any job-related purpose either at the time of graduation or even years later should it be needed. I also realize it is my responsibility to inform my student(s) of the situation and to provide them with a transcript.
15. I understand that CHS is not an accredited high school and there is no guarantee another school (especially public) would accept credits should I wish to transfer during high school.
