We’d love a snapshot of your artistic practice, the kinds of work you make, and how you currently see yourself within your career. You may also share experiences or influences that have shaped your creative path so far.

You may wish to include:

• How you describe your current career stage
• Key experiences that have shaped your practice

What creative question, idea or area of enquiry are you interested in exploring through this Fellowship? (Approx. 300 words or 3 minutes)

This can be early-stage, unresolved or experimental — we’re interested in what feels alive and meaningful to you right now.

This does not need to be a finished concept. We are interested in:

• What you are curious about right now
• What feels unresolved, emerging or ready for exploration
• Why this enquiry matters to you at this point in your practice

What draws you to creating work for children, young people and/or families?

This could be based on experience, curiosity, personal motivations or future aspirations.

You may reflect on:

• Previous experience or emerging interest

• Why these audiences feel important to your work

How would this Fellowship support your artistic growth at this time?

How would you like to use the residency with Barking Gecko Arts?

Please describe how you would like to use the residency and how you typically work in supported or collaborative environments. You can also note any access needs or practical considerations that would help you participate fully.

What do you hope might shift or grow in your practice as a result of this Fellowship?

Please tell us what you hope might change, grow or become clearer in your practice through this Fellowship. This might include new skills, confidence, ideas or longer-term creative directions.

This could include:

• New skills, confidence or directions
• Deeper enquiry or clarity
• Longer-term impacts on your creative life

It is advisable that applicants submit material(s) to support their application.

This should include relevant, recent examples of artistic and/or cultural work.  

Applicants can provide up to three (3) URL’s (weblinks) that link content that is relevant to the proposal. This may include audio, video, images, or written material. These URL’s can include a total of:

• Audio/Video
  Maximum three (3) links to audio and video content not exceeding ten (10) minutes combined listening or viewing time. Audio and/or video files must be uploaded to file streaming like Vimeo, YouTube, Bandcamp or SoundCloud that do not require log-in to access. Do not use Spotify.
• Images
  Maximum ten (10) images (JPEGs, PNGs, or PDF document or up to ten (10) image files maximum file size five (5) MB with one (1) line of text caption permitted per image. 

• Written
  Maximum ten (10) pages of written material as one (1) document (for example, excerpts of literary writing)

Please note: Our peer assessors will not access any URLs that require them to log in or sign up to a platform. Please do not provide links to Spotify or other applications that require users to log in or pay for access.

If you are linking to media files that are private or password protected like Vimeo, please provide the access codes on the application form.
