Bringing Testimony and Literature into the Classroom to Teach the Armenian Genocide

The USC Shoah Foundation and The Genocide Education Project invite secondary school educators, administrators, and curriculum coordinators to a meaningful, day-long workshop that deepens their understanding of the Armenian Genocide and offers best practices for contextualizing and humanizing this history in the classroom. Guided by experts in education, this in-person experience engages participants in hands-on exploration of multimedia resources that utilize testimony and literature of Armenian Genocide survivors. Participants will evaluate how these powerful tools inspire students’ critical thinking, compassion, and agency. We strongly recommend secondary school English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Ethnic Studies teachers, instructional coaches, and school administrators to attend. A group of selected participants will be eligible to receive a $150 stipend upon successful completion of the day-long workshop and post-evaluation survey. Qualified participants of the professional development workshop, “Bringing Testimony and Literature into the Classroom to Teach the Armenian Genocide,” on March 28, 2026 will receive a $150 check from The Genocide Education Project.
