Oingapatchk (pronounced oyn-gah-patch-k) comes from Ungepatchka — a Yiddish word often used to describe something overly ornate, busy, excessively decorated, even senseless or kitsch. Too much. Layered. Unapologetic.
We chose the name not as a rule, but as a possibility.
In Oingapatchk, artists bring unfinished work and exchange it with another artist, who completes the piece in their own voice. Some works may tip into excess. Others may deepen, complicate, or quietly shift. What matters is not how far the work is pushed, but that it is genuinely entered.
The finished works will be exhibited together in a two-week gallery show and offered for sale. Each piece carries two hands, two instincts, and two ways of knowing when a work is finished.
If a piece sells, proceeds are split 50/50 between the original artist and the artist who completed it. Sales and payouts will be handled by the organizers.
