Access to age-restricted  Hydrotherapy Pool, is limited to under-17 users who meet clearly defined eligibility criteria based on physical, sensory, emotional, or rehabilitation needs. Approval is granted only through management assessment process (front counter cannot approve at discretion) that documents the child’s circumstances, support requirements, and specific benefits they would gain from using these specialised spaces.

All approved under-17 users must be accompanied by a caregiver or supervisor who remains within arm’s reach at all times when in the water. Caregivers and the child (where possible) will wear an identifying wristband so staff can easily recognise approved access and maintain consistent decision-making.

Eligibility is assessed using a tiered system:

Tier One: Physical disability or significant mobility impairment (hydrotherapy priority)

Tier Two: High sensory or emotional needs requiring specialised support (case-by-case; includes all gym requests)

Tier Three: Lower-level sensory/emotional needs more appropriately supported through alternative facility options

Applications are reviewed through the collection of detailed information, including medical background, mobility limitations, sensory/emotional needs, equipment used, and professional recommendations. Decisions are recorded, and a customer flag is added to ensure consistent communication across all staff interactions.

      Caregiver Free Entry Policy Overview

Free entry for caregivers is permitted under the following circumstances:

      • The customer requires assistance with manual handling, specialized equipment, or continuous physical support during their visit.
      • The customer is unable to safely supervise themselves and has received Tier 1 or Tier 2 approval for caregiver support.
      • The customer is under a medical directive that mandates a caregiver to be present at all times for safety or health reasons.

This policy ensures that caregivers can accompany individuals who have significant physical, supervisory, or medical needs without incurring entry fees.
