2026 Camp SOAR Application Form
River Valley Special Rec Essential Eligibility Guidelines
Please review our Essential Eligibility Guidelines below before submitting a camp application for your participant.

Toileting Independence: Participants must be able to use the restroom independently. This includes pulling down and returning pants, wiping, changing a pull-up or feminine hygiene products as needed, and returning clothing to the appropriate position. Staff can provide verbal cues.

Mobility: Participants must be able to walk, use a walker, or operate a wheelchair
independently to move around program spaces.

Feeding: Participants must be able to feed themselves. Staff will assist with opening packages or wrappers. If a participant is prone to choking, inappropriate placement of food (such as putting food in the nose or ears), or requires a feeding tube, they must bring a parent, legal guardian, house staff member, or medical assistant to provide support during meal times.

Communication and Compliance: Participants must be able to follow verbal instructions from staff. This includes instructions delivered via a communication device, picture cards, or sign language as appropriate.

Individuals who do not meet these essential eligibility guidelines are still welcome to participate, but they must bring a 1:1 aide to assist them during the program. There is no additional cost for the aide, except for any tickets or program-related expenses River Valley Special Rec would incur due to their presence.

Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available only to residents within the boundaries of our partner districts:
Kankakee Park District,
Bourbonnais Park District, and
Limestone Park District.

Eligible residents may apply for a scholarship through the application available on our website: https://rivervalleysra.com/scholarships/

Scholarships are partial and do not cover the full cost of camp.
