    Pursuant to the Indiana Access to Public Records Act (APRA), Indiana Code § 5-14-3-1 et seq., any person has the right to inspect and copy public records during regular business hours unless the records are protected from disclosure as confidential or otherwise exempt under APRA.

    Please complete this form in its entirety and submit it to the New Carlisle Fire Department. Your request must identify with reasonable particularity the record(s) being requested. Vague or overly broad requests (such as "any and all" records) may be denied, delayed, or returned for further clarification.

    The New Carlisle Fire Department will respond to your request within a reasonable time as required by Indiana Code § 5-14-3-3. If responsive records exist and disclosure is not prohibited by law, the records will be made available for inspection or copying.

    Regular Business Hours

     Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm EST, excluding holidays. 

    Response Time

     Indiana law requires agencies to respond within a reasonable time. The New   Carlisle Fire Department strives to respond to all requests within 5-7 business   days.

    Fees

     There is no charge for inspecting records. Copying fees are established in   accordance with Indiana Code § 5-14-3-8 and are available upon request. 

    Exemptions

     Certain records may be exempt from disclosure under Indiana Code § 5-14-3-   4, including but not limited to: personnel records, investigatory records of law   enforcement agencies, confidential medical information, and records that   would jeopardize security systems.

    Denied Requests

     If your request is denied in whole or in part, the Department will provide the   specific statutory basis for the denial. You may file a complaint with the   Indiana Public Access Counselor at: Office of the Public Access Counselor,   Indiana Government Center South, 302 W. Washington Street, Room E205,   Indianapolis, IN 46204.
