  • The SouthWood Residential Community Association is accepting applications from graduating seniors who live in SouthWood and wish to be considered for a college scholarship. Four scholarships will be awarded* as follows:

    • $1,000 SouthWood Community Scholarship
    • $500 SouthWood JPII Catholic High School Scholarship
    • $500 SouthWood FSUS Scholarship
    • $500 Rickards High School Scholarship.

    Applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

    *All scholarship awards will be provided to the recipients via check. 

    A student may elect to apply for both the SouthWood Community Scholarship and the corresponding high school scholarship as long as they meet the requirements listed below. 

  • Eligibility Requirements

    • The applicant must be a SouthWood HOA resident.
    • The applicant must be a graduating senior.
    • If applying for the SouthWood Community Scholarship, the applicant must be a graduating senior from any high school in Leon County, Florida.
    • If applying for a school-specific scholarship, the applicant must be a graduating senior from that school.
    • The applicant must enroll at a post-secondary institution (university, four-year college, community college, or vocational school) for the 2026-2027 academic year.
    • The applicant must have earned an overall high school grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted).
    • An applicant may apply for both the school-specific scholarship and the SouthWood Community Scholarship; however, only one scholarship will be awarded. 
  • Application Instructions

  • A complete application packet must include the following:

    • Written support/examples of community-related activities in which you have volunteered. (less than 200 words)
      • If you are applying for the SouthWood Community Scholarship, describe your role in SouthWood-specific community activities and the most satisfying volunteer opportunity.
      • If you are applying for the JPII Catholic High School Scholarship, FSUS Scholarship, or Rickards High School Scholarship, describe your role in general community-wide activities and the most satisfying volunteer opportunity.
    • Written support/examples of "What community means to me". (less than 200 words)
    • Maximum two letters of recommendation from a high school faculty member (non relative) attesting to your character and academic achievement.
    • An unofficial transcript of courses (grades 9-12) with overall unweighted grade point average. Please redact your social security number from your transcript prior to submitting.

  • **Scholarship recipients will be announced during their Senior Awards Ceremony. The scholarship award will be sent directly to the recipient. Letters will also be sent to all applicants informing them of the decision.
