    Dear Applicant,  

             The Governing Committee is pleased to announce the 28th Annual Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development (LHAND) scholarship program. To qualify you must be a Lynn resident.  In addition, you must be enrolled in a two or four-year degree program or an alternative career pathway. The Scholarship Committee awards scholarship money directly to the winning applicants once proof of registration at the college or university is received. Please be advised that Charles Gaeta, Executive Director, has the discretion to give a special award to a participant that may not have been chosen by the Scholarship Selection Committee.  Scholarship awards will be considered in each of the following categories:   

    • A high school senior who is a Lynn resident.
    • A high school senior who is a past or present participant of any Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development housing program or any family member thereof.
    • A high school senior who is a Lynn resident accepted into the education field. This category is in honor of former Chairperson of LHAND Board of Commissioners, Patricia Barton.  Anyone that applies for this category must submit a letter of recommendation from his or her High School Guidance Counselor or a teacher at the school stating they are going into the educational field.
    • A high school senior who is a Lynn resident wishing to go into the field of business. This category is in memory of Laurie Walsh, former Chairperson of LHAND Board of Commissioners and co-owner of John’s Oil. Anyone that applies for this category must submit a letter of recommendation from his or her High School Guidance Counselor or a teacher at the school stating they are going into the business field.

    To be eligible, completed applications and all supplemental information must be received by: Friday, April 24th, 2026. 

    *Applications will be accepted by mail or online. Please include your official transcript or latest report card with your application.

    • Copy of current report card or official transcript.
    • List of all groups, organizations, clubs, teams, activities, etc. that you have participated in. Include volunteering and participation in activities of any charitable, non-profit or religious groups or organizations. Please include any work history. 


    To qualify for one of these scholarships, you must be a Lynn resident.  In addition, you must be enrolled in a two or four-year degree program or an alternative career pathway.    

    Applicants will be considered based upon a combination of the following criteria: academics, participation in extracurricular activities, volunteerism/community work, work history, and financial need.

    3.    How has your education contributed to what you want to pursue as a career in the future? 

    4.    If you are pursuing an alternative career path other than college, such as a training program or certification: What career path are you pursuing and how has your high school experience helped you to make this decision?
