Alice Deal Middle School – Spring Musical
Cast & Crew Member Agreement

Being a member of the Alice Deal Middle School Spring Musical is a privilege that requires dedication and teamwork.

To ensure a successful show, all actors/crew members and their parents/guardians must review and sign this contract before March 9, 2026. Student actors will not be cast unless this form is completed and submitted.

By signing this contract, my parents/guardians and I acknowledge and agree to the following:

Attendance Policy:
Being part of a musical is a team effort, and attendance is essential for everyone to learn songs, blocking, choreography, and cues effectively. As we prepare for the Spring Musical performances, I will prioritize theatre and be available for rehearsal. In keeping with that idea, I will:

·      Attend all rehearsals unless I’m sick or have a valid reason.
o   I understand that while I may not be called to every rehearsal, I will generally be available Monday through Friday from 3:30-5:00pm in case I am called.
o   I will check the weekly rehearsal schedule to know when my part is called and attend all those rehearsals.
·      Inform the director in advance if I am unable to attend a rehearsal by completing an absence form on the Theatre Website.
·      Inform the Director in advance if I need to leave rehearsal early and remind them on the day.
·      Miss no more than a total of three (3) rehearsals, in keeping with long-standing Deal Theatre policy. I understand that if I miss more than three rehearsals my role may be adjusted or I could even be dismissed from the show.
o   Exceptions to this absence limit include: School trips, illness/medical emergencies, and after-school test makeups.
o   The production team will consider student conflicts when scheduling rehearsals, but with so many students involved, it is not possible to schedule around every individual conflict.
·      Attend all mandatory days, including Tech Week, Dress Rehearsals, and all Performances.

Expectations & Etiquette
As a member of the Spring Musical cast and crew team, I will:
·      Be on time for rehearsals and stay for the entire time.
·      Demonstrate good behavior during rehearsal.
·      Support and encourage my fellow cast and crew team members during rehearsals and performances. I will not give others unsolicited notes or feedback.
·      Listen to my directors and parent volunteers.
·      Treat everyone with respect, regardless of their abilities or differences.
·      Be prepared for rehearsals and actively participate,:
o   Bring a pencil, script and/or chorus part and be dressed to move comfortably.
o   Maintain a performance notebook - a folder that can hold your script, music, and extra paper for taking notes.
o   Write down all blocking, direction, and musical instruction as given at rehearsals.
·      Create the right environment for rehearsals:
o   Respect and take care of the sets, costumes, props, and technical devices.
o   Assist in keeping the rehearsal space clean by removing all trash and restoring the space to order after rehearsals.
o   Keep side conversations to a minimum and put my phone away for all of rehearsal.
·      Perform my role to the best of my ability:
o   Actors must memorize all lines, blocking, and music by the deadlines set by the production team.
o   Once a scene is blocked, actors should begin memorization immediately and be off-book by the next rehearsal for that scene.
o   Crew members will learn their role and focus on ensuring it’s done well.
o   If I miss a rehearsal, I will work with the Directors and my fellow cast/crew mates to catch up as quickly as possible, while taking care not to disrupt others.

Remember, being in a show requires organization and good health. Please stay on top of your academic workload and plan ahead for weeks when major assignments are due or you have tests.

I understand that if I don’t follow these expectations or receive a negative report from any member of the Director team or parent volunteer team, appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken. After three issues and a parent conversation, this may include being asked to resign from the musical.
