  • MFFA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND POLICY

    Adopted: February 3, 2015

  • The Memphis Fire Fighters Association Foundation will award ten (10) $1,000 scholarships per year.

    RULES:

    1. The applicant must be a dependent child of a parent or guardian who is a member in good standing of IAFF Local 1784, Memphis Fire Fighters Association (or be the child of a member in good standing who was killed in the line of duty).
    2. Completed applications must be returned to the MFFA Foundation Office by the date and time specified on the application form.
    3. The scholarship must be used within one year of it being awarded.  After one year, the scholarship will revert back to the MFFA Foundation’s Scholarship Fund.  Exceptions to this rule, due to unusual circumstances, may be granted by the MFFA Foundation Board of Directors.  The decision of the Foundation Board of Directors is final.
    4. The applicant must be a senior in high school or a student at an accredited college or university.  Winners will be required to show proof of college acceptance before the scholarship is awarded.
    5. The winners will be chosen by random drawing at a regular monthly membership meeting of the Memphis Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1784.  All applicants will be notified of the date of the drawing but need not be present to win.
    6. The scholarship will be paid directly to the college in the student’s name.
    7. A person may only win one scholarship.  Previous winners are ineligible to re-apply.
    8. All matters of dispute shall be decided by the Board of Directors of the Memphis Fire Fighters Association Foundation.
