TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Artists may submit up to two (2) artworks. Each of these must be on separate entry forms.
(a) Please note in relation to the above – ‘One (1) Artwork’ may include more than one item if deemed to be reasonable and fair by Liverpool Art Society. Liverpool Art Society reserves the right to refuse any application and/or request re-submission if they determine any submission cannot be defined as ‘one (1) Artwork’.
(b) In the case where several items are acceptably submitted as one (1) artwork the price indicated on the entry form is the price for the artwork as a whole. Pricing of individual items that are considered one (1) artwork is not permitted.
2. The following are conditions in relation to the artwork:
(a) The maximum size for Adult Category 2D works is 2m x 2m (including the frame). Adult Category Sculptures/3D works to have an area of no more than 1 metre cubed i.e. 1m x 1m x 1m. The maximum weight of all artworks is 20kg.
(b)The maximum size for Youth Category (K-6) 2D works is 40x50cm. The maximum size for Youth Category (Year 7-11) 2D works is 60x60cm. Youth Category (K-6) Sculptures/3D works must not exceed 42cm x 42cm x 42cm . Youth Category (7-12) Sculptures/3D works must not exceed 60cm x 60cm x 60cm. Schools may enter 20 artworks only. The maximum weight of all artworks is 20kg.
(c) All works are to be ready for installation/display. Works that are to be installed on gallery walls are to include a hanging system - either d-rings or another suitable system.
(d) Where possible the artist’s name and artwork title must be clearly marked on the back of or under the artwork.
(e) LP will not accept any artworks that are not ready for display or are wet, incomplete, structurally unstable, or damaged in any way. LP will not repair any artworks on the artist’s behalf.
(f) Artworks entered must not pose dangers to the strict physical and environmental conditions of the venue. This may include hazardous, plant or living material.
(g) The artwork must be the original unaided work of the artist. Entry warrants that the artwork does not infringe copyright, moral rights or other rights of any third party. Artworks must have been produced in the last 24 months (at time of entry) and be the property of the artist.
(h) The submitted work must not have been exhibited in any previous LAS exhibition.
(i) Unless otherwise noted on the entry form, all exhibiting artists will permit their artworks to be reproduced in marketing, publicity, educational, publication and archival uses of the LP in relation to the LAS exhibition and prizes in all media, including electronic/digital, broadcasting and print media. Any reproductions that involve direct commercial or financial gain are not included in this permission.
(j) Unless noted otherwise via the entry form, the artists grants LP permission to share their contact details with its media partners in the event that they wish to discuss promotional/interview/publishing/broadcasting opportunities.
3. The following persons, and their immediate families, are ineligible to enter the PRIZES in the Liverpool Art Society Annual Exhibition, but may choose to display their work ONLY:
(a) 2026 Liverpool Art Society Annual exhibition judge;
(b) Current Liverpool City Councillors and current Council employees; and
(c) Directors and Management/Board/Committee Members of sponsor organisations are not eligible to be considered for the prizes they sponsor. This condition does not extend to Liverpool Art Society members who are eligible for all prizes they nominate as long as they meet the outlined conditions for entry.
PLEASE NOTE: 'Immediate Family Members' means a spouse or former spouse, de facto partner or former de facto partner, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling. It includes or a child, parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of a spouse or de facto partner. It includes step-relations (e.g. step-parents and step-children) as well as adoptive relations.
4. The annual exhibition judge is selected by the Liverpool Art Society (LAS) Committee in consultation with the Liverpool Powerhouse (LP). The decision of the judges will be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
5. Artists are responsible for organizing all transport matters. Artists are responsible for all costs and insurances involved in the transport of their artwork.
6. LP reserves the right to refuse and/or withhold any work from display.
7. LP staff take all reasonable measures to display/install artworks as intended however LP reserve the right to install artworks at their discretion, considering for example, available gallery space, artwork content, WH&S and/or SafeWork NSW guidelines.
8. LAS, in consultation with LP, reserve the right to remove artworks from and add artworks to the different categories of the category Prizes if they determine the artwork is not suitable for the Category it is submitted to.
9. All adult artists will be charged a non-refundable entry Fee of $15 per artwork.
10. Children (18 years and younger) are exempt from the entry Fee.
11. Schools may enter 20 student entries only. Schools must be a member of Liverpool Art Society to enter.
12. All artworks available for sale for $100 or more will be subject to a total 20% commission payable, 10% to LP and 10% to LAS. All artworks available for sale for $99 or less will not be subject to any commission. Artwork will be available for sale immediately after the award ceremony until the last day of exhibition.
13. Youth artworks are not for sale.
14. It is the responsibility of all entrants to obtain their own insurance cover against loss, destruction, damage and/or consequential loss (including but not limited to natural disasters, catastrophes, and the like) in relation to their entry/artwork. Unless otherwise advised, Council or Liverpool Art Society do not insure/artworks in transit, storage or on exhibition. It is expected that each entrant effects any additional insurance it considers reasonably necessary (or which a prudent artist would take out having regards to the nature and value of the entry/artwork and the type of exhibition). Council, while taking all due and reasonable care of entries/artworks, to the extent permitted by law, is not responsible or liable for any incidental loss or damage to the entry/artwork and the entrant otherwise releases and indemnifies Council and Liverpool Art Society against any and all claims, liabilities, loss and costs incurred or in connection with the entry/artwork, except to the extent that such a loss or damage is caused or contributed to by the negligent or wrongful act of omission of Council or that of its employees and agents.
NOTE: Liverpool Powerhouse is an industrial building, a former power station and is not a purpose-built art gallery. Not all galleries have climate control and some are impacted by natural light. Entries are submitted with agreement to artwork being presented in these conditions.
15. Terms and conditions regarding the Liverpool City Council Overall Prize:
(a) The Liverpool City Council Overall Prize winner must have been a financial member of the Liverpool Art Society Inc. for a least 12 months prior to this exhibition’s close of registration.
(b) The entrant must nominate on the entry form to be considered for this prize
(c) The Liverpool City Council Overall Prize is acquisitive. The maximum amount paid to the winner is $5,000, even if the artwork is valued over $5,000.
16. Terms and conditions regarding the Liverpool Powerhouse Scholarship Prize:
(a) Liverpool Powerhouse Scholarship Prize winner must have been a financial member of the Liverpool Art Society Inc. for a least 12 months prior to this exhibition’s close of registration.
(b) The entrant must nominate on the entry form to be considered for this prize
(c) The Liverpool Powerhouse Scholarship Prize winner will receive mentorship in the creation of an exhibition of their work to be presented in the 2026 exhibition program. The recipient will receive the benefits of presenting work for an exhibition in consultation with a LP Curator which may include, but is not limited to, technical, curatorial and marketing support.
(d) Previous winners of the Scholarship Prize will not be eligible for the scholarship prize for the next five (5) Liverpool Art Society exhibitions from the date of winning the prize (including when it was called the Casula Powerhouse Scholarship Prize).
17. All submitted details on the registration form are final. All submitted details on the Registration Form cannot be altered after the registration closing date or upon delivery of artwork.
18. Artwork labels will be provided on the artwork drop-off day and must be attached by LP Staff to each artwork upon delivery to LP. Labels will match the description on the Artwork Entry Form and artwork delivered must correspond in description.
19. Artworks not collected on time as specified in KEY DATES may be disposed of at the discretion of LP in consultation with LAS.
20. LP is not responsible for any packaging of artworks. All artworks will be available for collection unwrapped. Any artists wanting to wrap their works will need to bring all wrapping or packaging with them and wrap the artworks themselves on allocated dates for collection of artworks.
