The Banyule Open Studios BOS program is a unique opportunity for Banyule artists and cultural groups to invite the wider public to visit their creative studio spaces within Banyule.

Participation in the program means your studio will be open to the public for the weekend.  Your studio will feature in our App, on our brochure and you will have access to all BOS promotional material, including signage. Your work will also be highlighted on BOS social media.

BOS 2026 Group Exhibition Artists will be invited to participate in a group exhibition held at Loft 275 @ ILCH from the 20 August – 13 September 2026.

Ivanhoe Library and Culture Hub Artists without a studio are able to apply to show in a group studio at the Ivanhoe Library and Culture Hub. The group studio will be housed in the inviting community rooms.

We are currently waiting on the outcome of a grant application to be able to offer the public 20 art workshops and artist talks.  This will be a paid opportunity for artists.  The BOS committee are very pleased to be able to support artists in this way.

There will be friendly social events where you will be able to meet other artists and grow your arts network.

The BOS program is a collegiate and welcoming event run by artist volunteers for artists.

  • Assistance with Program Delivery

The Banyule Open Studios weekend is an artist run initiative. It is expected that artists will be present at their studio during BOS open hours and provide a positive experience for visitors. One of the benefits of engaging with the community is not only promoting your art but becoming a member of a friendly, creative network of artists. Participating artists are encouraged to help organise and promote the program. Each of us has social and professional networks that could be employed to spread the word about the BOS weekend. Please think about the skills and experience you have that may be helpful in making our project a success.
  • Demonstrations, Workshops or Events

There is a possibility of artists being funded to offer demonstrations, workshops or special events. Events could be such things as a workshop, film projection, performance, music recital, art technique demonstration etc. If this is something you would like to offer as part of your open studio, please outline your idea in no more than 100 words. Please include potential dates and times of events in the two weeks leading up to the BOS open studios weekend.
