  • ESSENTIAL READING BEFORE COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FORM

  • Please note that the course is aimed at improving understanding of classification in Para sports that internationally are governed by the international Paralympic Committee and compete at the Paralympic Games (day 1) and to recruit and introduce potential district and provincial classifiers to basic classification processes and methods of classification in the following sport codes only: Athletics, Cycling, CP Football, Boccia (day 1-5).

  • Group 1 (one day course only on 25 March 2026)
    Please note that this classification course is designed as an introduction to the foundation understanding and knowledge of Para sport classification only. The course is aimed at sport administrators, sport officials, sport coaches, persons supporting para athletes and senior athletes. Preference will be given to applicants who are already involved in Para sport structures.

  • Group 2 (three to four days depending on preferred sport codes for which you wish to acquire basic classifier skills to enable you to classify at club and district level in selected sport codes.
    Classifier competencies are clearly outlined in the 2025 IPC Classification Code International Standard for Classification Personnel and Training. Evidence of the pre-requisite competencies must be provided in the formal application. Additional motivation must include future envisaged involvement in Para sport classification and be undersigned by a Para sport official in your province. Your contact details will be provided to your provincial structure following the course.
    Pre-requisite classifier competencies are:
    Medical Classifier
    A medical qualification as a doctor, with experience in the underlying eligible health conditions that may lead to eligible impairments catered for by the sport in question, for example, qualification as an ophthalmologist for classification of athletes with vision impairment, as a psychologist for athletes with intellectual impairment, as a physiotherapist or related discipline of individual with the clinical knowledge and experience with athletes with eligible physical impairment catered for by the sport in question.
    Technical Classifier
    Basic knowledge of the ways in which an athlete's eligible impairments can affect their ability to execute specific tasks and activities fundamental to the sport in question, gained through coaching experience or other relevant qualifications in Para sport training, physical education, sport sciences, biomechanics, kinesiology, or other reputable academic qualification with a working knowledge of the sport in question.
    Knowledge of one or more para sports is key.
