Stern Grove Festival is the longest-running nonprofit music festival in the country. Since 1938, this cherished summer tradition has brought Bay Area communities together for world-class performances in the stunning outdoor amphitheater of Sigmund Stern Grove, nestled on the city’s west side. Last year, the Festival welcomed over 105,000 attendees to its iconic concert series, which has featured legendary artists like Chaka Khan, The Flaming Lips, Diana Ross, Bob Moses, Girl Talk, Ziggy Marley, Herbie Hancock, and many more.

Role Overview
Role: Social Media Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Marketing
Team: Part of the Marketing Department and working in close collaboration with the Marketing Director, Marketing Coordinator, Designer, Programming, Artists, and external partners.
Status: Hourly, Seasonal (duration of 2026 Season)
We’re looking for someone who lives online — in the best way. The Social Media Coordinator will lead the day-to-day execution of Stern Grove Festival’s social channels. This person understands TikTok trends before they hit Reels. They know how to tell a story in 15 seconds. They’re comfortable on camera, behind the camera, and in the comments section. This is not just a scheduling role. This is a storytelling role. You will help shape how one of San Francisco’s most beloved cultural institutions shows up on social media.
General Duties
- Platform Management: Manage Stern Grove Festival’s social media accounts including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms.
- Content Creation (Photo/Video/Copy): Capture and edit short-form video, behind-the-scenes content, artist moments, and festival-day storytelling. Draft captions aligned with brand voice and campaign priorities.
- Content Calendar & Scheduling: Maintain and execute a social content calendar in alignment with marketing campaigns, artist announcements, sponsorship deliverables, and Festival milestones.
- Community Engagement: Monitor comments, DMs, and tagged content. Respond thoughtfully and promptly while fostering positive audience interaction.
- Festival Day Coverage: Provide on-site, real-time social media coverage during Sunday concerts and major Festival events.
- Analytics & Reporting: Track engagement metrics, growth trends, and performance insights. Prepare regular reports to inform strategy and optimization.
- Audience Growth & Trend Research: Identify opportunities to expand reach, increase engagement, and connect with new audiences. Monitor trends and recommend creative ideas for growth.
- Paid Social Support: Assist with social media advertising boosts and paid campaigns as directed.
- Asset Management: Organize and maintain social media assets including video clips, photography, reels, and historical content.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with Programming, Development, and Partnerships teams to amplify sponsor activations, artist stories, and educational initiatives such as Grove Guidance.

Technical Skills Required
- Proficiency in video editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.
- Experience using scheduling and analytics tools (Later, Meta Business Suite, etc.).
- Proficiency in Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications.
- Equipment: Need to have necessary equipment to create videos and social content. We do have on-site videographers and photographers to supplement, however need to have ability to shoot on own.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
While performing duties, the employee must:
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Walk and navigate varied terrain, including the Grove’s hillside areas.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in person with large groups of people.

Work Period and Hours

This is an hourly position and the schedule will fluctuate based on seasonal needs and campaign timelines. Here are the approximate hourly needs: March - May: 20 hrs/week, June - August: 30 hrs/week, September: 10 hrs/week

The Social Media Coordinator must be available every Sunday from 9:00am – 6:00pm during the Stern Grove Festival season (June 14 through August 16 2026).

Must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for weekly Stern Grove meetings and typically in the office on those days.
Compensation
Starting at $25 per hour and commensurate with experience. Paid semi-monthly.
