MWG 2026 Anthology APPLICATION

In celebration of 115 plus years since its founding in 1915, the Missouri Writers' Guild is pleased to announce the 2026 anthology project.

This Anthology is a collection of short stories, essays, poems, and photo essays from members of the Missouri Writers' Guild (MWG). The short story and essay category is inclusive of short newspaper and magazine articles and columns. The Anthology is meant for a general audience and includes submissions related to the author's experiences in Missouri or a Missouri related topic of interest.

Anthology participation is available only to current members of the Missouri Writer's Guild. Eligibility requires annual paid membership and life members.

Submissions are limited to previously unpublished material and only one submission. AI-generated submissions are not eligible.

APPLICATION OPENS: Monday, March 16, 2026

APPLICATION CLOSES: Sunday, April 26, 2026

For Short Stories and Essays (up to 5 pages in the Anthology)

• Clear profile picture (headshot).
• Author bio (100 words max).
• Original written content by the author (1,500 words max).
• Optional: One (1) additional photo related to your submission.
• NOTE: ALL photographs (except profile pictures) must include a permission release in writing from the original owner of the image. No exceptions.

MWG 2026 Anthology APPLICATION

For Poetry (up to 5 pages in the Anthology)

• Clear profile picture (headshot).
• Author bio (100 words max).
• Original written content by the author. Up to four (4) typed pages, 12-pt Times New Roman font, one-inch margins.
• Optional: One (1) additional photo related to your submission.
• NOTE: ALL photographs (except profile pictures) must include a permission release in writing from the original owner of the image. No exceptions.

 For Photo Essays (up to 5 pages in the Anthology)

• Clear profile picture (headshot).
• Author bio (100 words max).
• Original written content by the author (500 words max).
• Up to ten (10) additional photos related to your submission.
• Include a brief caption (20 words max) for each additional photo.
• Less photos allow more space for your written content.
• NOTE: ALL photographs (except profile pictures) must include a permission release in writing from the original owner of the image. No exceptions.
