  • CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

    The AIA Kentucky Convention, planned for September 22, 2026 will bring together more than 100 architects and allied professionals from across the state for a full day of programs and activities.  The Programming sub-committee is interested in providing a wide range of programs that will meet the needs of all the convention attendees and appeal to a broad representation of our membership and allied professionals.  Programs deemed to address the needs of the widest range of participants will be given the highest consideration.

    Presentation Format

    Sessions are educational presentations, including panel discussions and lectures.  The committee reserves the right to adjust the length of any of the proposals.  All programs should endeavor to obtain health, safety and welfare (HSW) credits as defined by the American Institute of Architects, as they will be given preference over programs that do not qualify for HSW.

    Suggested Themes:  Climate Action, Sustainability, Resilience, Technology, Design & Innovation, Industry Challenges & Critical Issues

  • *Health, Safety & Welfare requirements can be reviewed here.  Please take the time needed to review the requirements prior to selecting your response.

  • Identify four (4) Learning Objectives for the program.   A learning objective is an explanation of the learning outcomes of the course, they should clearly express what the adult learner will be able to do after taking the course.  Be as specific as possible about learning that will occur and the benefits to the participants attending your session.  For example:  "Participants will be able to identify, calculate, apply, etc."

  • Device & A/V Requirements:  Laptop computers are NOT provided - indicate here the type of computer you will be bringing.  All rooms will have internet access, a podium microphone, an LCD projector and a screen.  Indicate here any other audio-visual requirements you may have such as embedded audio, embedded video, etc.

  • Selection & Notification

    Selection Criteria:  Your proposal will be evaluated by members of the Convention Programming Subcommittee, against the following criteria:  

    • Well-defined program, focus and clarity of the proposal, clear learning objectives
    • Overall quality and potential to contribute to a well-balanced convention program
    • Singular and dynamic approaches to the subject material;  Innovative, emerging and relevant
    • Relevance to the profession 
    • Practical applications of materials or ideas; In-depth and challenging material
    • Level of interaction, engagement opportunities with attendees
    • Speakers' experience

    Proposed programs must be generic in nature and not sell or promote any specific product or service.  The content must contribute to the continuing education needs of AIA members and contribute to the body of knowledge of the practice of architecture.

    • Sept. 1:  Handouts due to Convention Staff (if applicable)
    • Sept. 22:  AIA Kentucky Convention
