OCCM Chapter Election 2026-2027: Officer Self-Expression Form (TX)
  • Chapter Chapter Election: Officer Self-Expression Form

    Texas Chapters
  • The group of students in an OCCM Chapter is the nucleus of the OCCM ministry and life on campus. The group is facilitated and guided by a team that includes elected student leaders, a clergy (spiritual) advisor, and a faculty advisor (may not be required at every university).

To facilitate the chapter election, the Executive Board developed a streamlined process to help facilitate a student leader's interest and clergy approval.

Nomination is done through self-expression only. We ask that you complete this "Officer Self-Expression" form by April 3, 2026. You will be notified after the vetting process is complete, and if you qualify to be placed on the ballot for the chapter election.

  • OCCM Summit

OCCM Summit is an annual training for all OCCM chapter officers and student leaders. It is designed to train OCCM student leaders on the OCCM ministry plan for the upcoming academic year, cross-train and collaborate with fellow student leaders from the other chapters on what it means to be an Orthodox leader in your chapter.

OCCM Summit for all regions (FL/GA/TN/TX) will be held from Wednesday, August 5 to Saturday, August 8 at St. Mary & St. Demiana Convent – Dawsonville, Georgia.

Chapter Officers and the Student Leadership Team are required to attend the OCCM Summit training to serve in their role. See more info at https://www.susoccm.org/summit.

  • Ministry Commitment

The success of an OCCM chapter is highly dependent on the reliability and commitment of every officer.

    • If you choose to serve as an officer in your OCCM chapter, you must ensure no other obligations such as an entrance exam (i.e., MCAT, DAT, etc.) will conflict with your service, force you to drop your duties or become delinquent in fulfilling your duties.
    • If you choose to serve as an officer in your OCCM chapter, you must ensure this ministry does not conflict with your parish service (if you serve in Sunday School or similar parish services). Serving in OCCM should not hurt your parish service nor cause you to become delinquent in fulfilling your parish duties.
  • Officer Responsibilities and Commitments

    • Be an image of God on- and off-campus and adhere to the OCCM Code of Conduct.
    • Strive in his/her relationship with God, attend the Liturgical services regularly, and connect with his/her Father Confessor regularly.
    • Attend at least 90% of OCCM weekly meetings, chapter events (community service and campus outreach), and regional events.
    • Must attend all regularly scheduled officer meetings.
    • When an officer cannot perform his/her duties, he/she must contact the President and Clergy Advisor. If an officer cannot attend one of the meetings or events, he/she must contact the President and Clergy Advisor with a valid reason. A 'no-show' to chapter meetings and events is indicative of neglect and lack of commitment. If an officer lacks fulfillment of his/her duties or is consistently absent, the Committee shall meet with the Clergy Advisor to discuss the situation and the course of action.
  • Role Selection in the OCCM Ministry

Before selecting how you'd like to serve your chapter, please refer to the OCCM Guidebook and Manual under 'Chapter Management' linked below. This will ensure you're well-aware of what your duties will be before selecting how you would like to serve. https://www.susoccm.org/managing-chapter
