  • CHS CODE OF CONDUCT

All families are asked to sign to indicate their agreement with and understanding of this policy. It is reprinted here for your reference.

As teachers and students of Christian Heritage School, we represent to those around us our school, the home educating community and, most importantly, our Lord Jesus Christ. In recognition of that, we should behave in a manner consistent with the instruction presented in God's Word.

In deference to the parent it is often uncomfortable for the adult in charge of an event to discipline someone else’s child. With that in mind, we present these guidelines. Please teach your children the appropriate behavior and attitudes for compliance as well as telling them that the adult in charge of the activity has been delegated by the school (and you) to speak to them about inappropriate behavior. Thank you.

    1. Have respect for authority figures, whether that is the person in charge of a field trip you’re on, a tour guide on an event, the leader of a game at park day, etc. (I Peter 2:13-17; Romans 13:1)

    2. Have an attitude of compassion for the differences, needs or disabilities of others. (Parents, teach children not to be cruel to people who are different from themselves as so often happens in schools.) (Matthew 7:12; James 2:1-9; Galatians 5:22-23)

    3. Act and speak in a manner worthy of the God who calls you—unkind remarks, profanity, coarse jokes, conversation involving occult or sexual situations or other language unbecoming of a Christian is unacceptable at school functions. Also, avoid knowingly wearing gang symbols or colors, as well as inappropriate shirts. Dress modestly (see point 8 for more). (I Thessalonians 2:12; Ephesians 4:1; 5:4)

    4. Even though you may not have a problem with certain behavior or actions or clothing within your family, if you know something may be offensive to someone else, don’t do it! Respect the property and landscape of those we are visiting. Parents, teach children about refraining from some things in a group setting that may be allowed at home. In this category we would include things as simple as climbing trees or fences on someone else’s property as well as language or joking that may offend. (I Corinthians 8:7-13; Philippians 2:3-4; Romans 12:17b)

    5. On educationally-oriented field trips, come prepared to listen attentively with an attitude of learning. This may mean having to take your child aside to make sure they are listening and not distracting others while presentations or instructions are being given out. Headphones, cell phones, tablets, earbuds, or other electronics (that are not medically required) should not be used while on field trips (aside from taking photos).  (James 3:13)

    6. The use of alcoholic beverages or tobacco products, or the possession or use of weapons or illegal drugs are not permitted during any Christian Heritage School functions. (Noncompliance with this item will result in expulsion from the current activity and may lead to expulsion from all CHS activities as well as the school.) (Matthew 5:16; Galatians 5:19-21)

    7. Wholesome friendships are encouraged between boys and girls. However, students should look upon one another as brothers and sisters in Christ and refrain from demonstrating personal affection at all school functions. (Galatians 5:24; Romans 12:10; Ephesians 5:3)

    8. Clothing should be clean, neat and in good repair, modest in style and fit, should not draw undue attention (excessively baggy or tight, exposed midriff, bare back or strapless tops/dresses, inappropriate text or depictions on shirts, short shorts or skirts, exposed undergarments are all unacceptable). Parents and students that have tattoos please be mindful that we are representing Christ as well as the school when we attend field trips so if you have a tattoo that does not edify Christ please make an effort to cover it for the field trip duration. The school and its representatives reserve the right to make the final decision on if clothing or exposed tattoos are edifying to Christ and may recommend adjustments to be made if standards are not being kept. (I Timothy 2:9; Colossians 3:17, 23-24)

Parents and all students fourth grade or above, please sign to indicate your agreement with the above; younger students who are old enough to understand should sign too.

For and in consideration of CHRISTIAN HERITAGE SCHOOL permitting me and my family members to participate in the above-stated events and  activities, I understand and agree that situations may arise which may go beyond the control of CHRISTIAN HERITAGE  SCHOOL or of outing guides or other program participants. For myself, spouse, children and my personal representatives, assignees, heirs, and next of kin, or any other related party, I RELEASE, FOREVER DISCHARGE, AND AGREE NOT TO SUE CHRISTIAN HERITAGE SCHOOL, and their employees, officers, agents and volunteers, and other members from any and all claims and  liability arising out of strict liability or ordinary negligence which causes the undersigned injury, death, or property damage. I  HEREBY WAIVE ALL SUCH CLAIMS WHICH I NOW OR MAY HEREAFTER HAVE AGAINST THE ABOVE ORGANIZATION  OR PERSONS. I have read and understood the above and agree to be bound by it.
