Print Room

Since 1978, our space at 32 Union Square East has been an office, storage, and a point of connection for members, jurors, friends, and supporters. In 2021, the office became SAGA Gallery and has evolved into a key piece of our operations, including 8 exhibitions and the place for collecting and sorting hundreds of prints for our shows each year. We are happy to announce Print Room, a program designed to offer members and their friends* the opportunity to print at SAGA. *Friends of SAGA must be endorsed by a member in good standing.
What kind of printing work can I do in the space?

Artists can use the space for: printing finished plates on intaglio, relief, aluminum lithography, embossing, collagraph and monoprint. Monotypes, painting, drawing and photography are also allowed. If you would like to do a project out of the scope listed above, tell us more in the form below. Plate making with corrosives and the use of some solvents are strictly prohibited by the building's code.
Artists with their approved request must take a 15-minute, one-time studio orientation at the begining of their booked day. This orientation will show the artist/s how to safely set up, clean up, and operate the press.

Print Room Rates

SAGA members: $200/day

Nonmembers: $300/day

Partial-day rates and discounts are not available. Print room rates are per day (9am-9pm Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm Sat-Sun). Subject to calendar availability. You are allowed to share the Print Room with one (1) other member or friend.

Room details, equipment and supplies:

- 350 Square feet + 3 windows

- 27x48" (bed size) Electric Dickerson Combination Press + wool blankets

- 2, 18x20" plastic trays

- 2x4' inking glass slab

- Magnets and magnetized tracks on walls for hanging paper

- 3, 4x8' rigid foam boards for pinning prints to dry + push pins

- Paper towel dispenser

- Gamsol and cooking oil for cleaning

- Water spray bottles

- 8 folding chairs

- 2, 3x6' folding tables

- Mini fridge

- Microwave

- Cold water sink

- Electric kettle, cups, plates and utensils.
