  • What Does It Mean To Be An American?

A Reflection for the State Bar of New Mexico's "Bar Bulletin: Commemorative Edition"
  • As part of the State Bar of New Mexico’s "Bar Bulletin: Commemorative Edition," marking the nation’s 250th anniversary, we invite members of New Mexico’s legal community to reflect on a simple but enduring question:

What does it mean to be an American?

This issue examines 250 years of legal development through the lens of the Rule of Law, constitutional structure and the role lawyers play in maintaining lawful processes over time.

Selected reflections may be featured in the publication. Not all reflections will be included in the publication. The State Bar of New Mexico reserves the right to edit responses for length.

Please submit your response either as an MP4 at a maximum of 30 seconds long or in a written format at a maximum of 150 words.

Please keep your response reflective, historically grounded and nonpartisan.
