Urban Roots Food & Farming Camp 2026

(Inaugural Middle School Camp!)
Thank you for your interest in the Urban Roots Food & Farming Camp! The Food & Farming Camp is an opportunity for middle school youth within the greater Austin area to make friends while learning about and engaging with the local food system. This summer, Urban Roots will be hosting two summer camps for middle schoolers on our South farm Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am - 2:30pm. Camp dates will be June 2nd - June 18th and June 23 - July 10th. Join us out on the farm as we spend time working with plants, cooking with the food we harvest, connecting with nature, and more!
Recruitment and Registration Process
To be eligible for this program, participants must: (1) Be in middle school by the start of the 2026-2027 academic school year. If you are unsure about this requirement, please email programs@urbanrootsatx.org (2) Be present and attend the entirety of the Food and Farming Camp. You must submit an application by April 18th. Once you complete your registration, Urban Roots staff will reach out to you confirming your place in the program or to collect additional information. Eligibility Information

As a commitment to our funders, Urban Roots is required to save a certain amount of program opportunities for youth in our program whose households are at or below the 250% federal poverty guideline. To help us gauge the number of youth we are accepting, please answer the following question to the best of your ability and knowledge. If your child is enrolled, we’ll ask you to confirm your income by filling out and signing a short form. No extra documents needed.

Transportation

Participants must arrive on the farm no later than 8:30 am on Tuesdays-Saturdays during the program. The day ends at 2:30pm. The farm is located at 4711 Winnebago Lane Austin, TX 78744.
