  • Online Reporting Instructions and Requirements

    Crimes in progress — Call 911 immediately. Do not file online.

    Jurisdiction — The incident must have taken place within Tooele City limits.

    Crimes not listed below — Contact our dispatch center at (435) 882-5600, Option 1.

    Crimes against a person — Online reports are for property crimes only. Crimes against a person cannot be reported online.

    Confirmation — Once your report is successfully submitted, you will see the message: "Your online police report has been submitted."

     

    Select the Crime Type That Best Describes Your Incident

    The following crimes may be reported online. Choose the option that best fits your situation:

    Abandoned Vehicle:

    A vehicle left unattended on public or private property for an extended period with no apparent owner activity. Example: A car has been parked on your street for several weeks with flat tires and no signs of use.

    Burglary:

    The unlawful entry into a building or structure with the intent to commit a crime inside. Example: Someone broke into your home or business and stole property.

    Criminal Mischief:

    Intentional damage or destruction of someone else's property. Example: Someone spray-painted graffiti on your fence or threw a rock through your window.

    Criminal Mischief of a Vehicle:

    Intentional damage or destruction to a vehicle you do not own. Example: Someone keyed your car, slashed your tires, or broke off your side mirror.

    Custodial Issue:

    A dispute or violation involving child custody arrangements. Example: A parent failed to return a child at the agreed time outlined in a court-ordered custody agreement.

    Documentation:

    Use this option to submit a report for record-keeping purposes only — no investigation is requested. Example: You want a record of an incident for personal, legal, or insurance purposes.

    Fraud:

    The use of deception or misrepresentation to obtain money, property, or services. Example: Someone posed as a contractor, accepted payment for work, and never completed the job.

    Hit and Run – No Suspect:

    Damage caused by a driver who left the scene without stopping to exchange information. If you have no suspect information or evidence that could identify the driver or vehicle, this report will be used for informational and insurance purposes only. Example: You returned to your parked car and found damage with no note left behind.

     

    Identity Theft:

    The unauthorized use of your personal information to commit fraud or other crimes. Example: Someone used your Social Security number or credit card information to open accounts or make purchases without your knowledge.

    Lost Property:

    Personal property that has been lost and cannot be located, filed for informational and insurance purposes. Example: You lost your wallet, phone, or other valuables and cannot determine where or how.

    Other Civil Issue:

    A non-criminal dispute between individuals. If you are unsure whether your issue is civil or criminal, you may still file this report for documentation. Example: A landlord is withholding your security deposit or a neighbor dispute over property lines.

    Shoplifting:

    The theft of merchandise from a retail store by a customer or visitor. Example: A person concealed items in a bag and left a store without paying.

    Supplemental Report – Follow Up:

    Use this option to add information to a previously submitted report. You must have your original report number before filing a supplement. Example: You remembered additional details or received new information after your initial report was filed.

     

    Telephone or Communication Harassment:

    Repeated, unwanted contact through phone calls, texts, emails, or other electronic communication intended to annoy, alarm, or threaten. Example: Someone has been sending you threatening text messages or calling repeatedly after being told to stop.

    Vehicle Burglary:

    The unlawful entry into a vehicle with the intent to commit a crime or theft inside. Example: Someone smashed your car window and stole items from inside.

    Vehicle Crash – Non-Injury:

    A vehicle accident involving property damage only — no injuries. If anyone is injured at the time of or following the crash, you must contact dispatch directly at (435) 882-5600 rather than filing online. Example: You backed into another car in a parking lot or struck a mailbox and no one was hurt.
