(Un)Altered Books:  Unheard Voices
  • (Un)Altered Books: Unheard Voices

Invites artists to reclaim banned books and overlooked, erased or silenced histories through visual book-inspired art forms. Using books as an object, structure or metaphor artists will transform research, archives and lived experiences into powerful acts of storytelling and restoration that tells the full story of us. The project is in partnership with the Women's Caucus for Art - Colorado, University of Denver Libraries and the Blair-Caldwell Library. All visual mediums welcome, including altered books, book arts, mixed media, sculpture, painting, drawing and photography. The exhibition invites 2D and 3D artists. Artists need to be sure their work meets the maximum size requirements of 20"H x 13"W x 13"D for glass library case display. If your piece requires a small easel please provide and include it in your final size. Small book easels are available and free for use from the library. If you have ideas that don't fit that space exactly contact us at lynne.muth@gmail.com and to determine feasibility. Limit 2 entries per artist.
