Volunteers must be 15+ with no prior record (if under 18 written consent from parent/guardian or a chaperone is required). If this form represents a volunteer group and there is an indication of interest, we will assume all members of the group will attend. By submitting, I certify that the answers given are herein true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that if I become a volunteer for the Macomb Park District, I will be required to abide by all policies, procedures, & regulation of the Macomb Park District. I understand and agree that in signing up and volunteering for the Macomb Park District, I recognize and acknowledge certain risks of physical injury to volunteers, and I voluntarily agree to assume for the full risk of any and all injuries, damages or loss, regardless of severity, that I or my minor child/ward may sustain as a result of my volunteer services. I further do hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Macomb Park District, its officers, employees, agents and assigns from liability for any and all claims, including those which results in personal injury, accidents, or illness (including death) and property loss arising from, but not limited to, participation as a volunteer for the Macomb Park District. Adult Egg Hunt -April 4th 6:00PM-9:00PM
Help out at this flashlight easter egg hunt with prizes, glow games, and live DJ at the Newman Center (1401 W University Dr)! ISO at least 3 volunteers
Movie in the Park -*Varying dates & times
this event brings hundreds of people together to enjoy an outdoor cinematic experience 3 times throughout the summer and early fall at Veterans Park. This opportunity is 3 separate events. ISO at least 3 volunteers.
Veterans Park Clean-up -April 11th 10AM-1PM
This volunteer opportunity is a huge push to clear up the brush and natural debris on the friendship trail at Veterans Park for summer and fall use. This will be critical work that will benefit future programs like the WW2 Living History event in October where historical reenactments and encampment replicas will occupy that area. ISO an unlimited amount of volunteers. May be a repeat event.
Spring Volunteer Event -May 5th 10:30AM-1:30PM
We’ll focus on removing invasive plants in the landscaping surrounding the Lakeview Nature Center and in the Nature Area, placing mulch, and removing unwanted trash.We hope you’ll join us for this outdoor opportunity where you can make a difference, collect some volunteer hours, and connect with nature! ISO an unlimited amount of volunteers.
Bike Pop-Up -May 23rd 11:00AM-2:00PM
The Bike Pop-Ups are a free monthly series of temporary "safety town" obstacle course events that will run at Patton Park from May-September to help people of all ages learn how to share the road without traffic or pressure! ISO at least 3 volunteers
Nature's Fireworks -July 11th 7:30PM-9:30PM
This summer festival at Lakeview Nature Area & Center brings in many families to celebrate the beauty of firefly season with lantern lit prairie labyrinth walks, seasonal books, creative activity stations, and a smores station at the cozy campfire. ISO at least 3 volunteers.
Hogwash Slip & Slide Bash -July 25th 1PM-3PM
Slip & Slide pop-up water park experience that families and people of all ages will enjoy at the Glenwood Park Shelter. ISO at least 3 volunteers.
Touch A Truck -August 29th 11AM-2PM
This hands on vehicular playscape at Veterans Park brings hundreds of families to explore various specialty vehicles and sensory activities. ISO of at least 10 volunteers
Run to the Rescue - September 5th 9AM-11AM
Participants will run with their pet or in honor of their pet to support animals in need in the community while also providing an opportunity for adoptable pets to meet their future families! ISO at least 10 volunteers
Wildflower Tea Party- September 13th 12PM-2PM
This whimsical day on the prairie invites participants to create their own wildflower bouquet, enjoy curated eats from a charcuterie vendor, and toast to beautiful memories made with loved ones against a blooming landscape filled with music from a live quartet. ISO at least 5 volunteers
WW2 Living History Exhibit -October 9th/11th 11AM-5PM
This WW2 reenactment at Veterans Park will bring people together for live demonstrations and historically accurate encampments. ISO at least 15 volunteers
Moonlight Meander -October 24th 6PM-8PM
This fall festival at Lakeview Nature Area & Center brings families together to celebrate the arrival of fall with lantern lit prairie labyrinth walks, seasonal books, creative activity stations, and smores at the cozy campfire. ISO at least 3 volunteers
Pumpkin Smash -November 7th 11AM-1PM
This Post-Halloween pumpkin rage room event keeps pumpkin waste out of the landfills and recycles them into compost for local farmers! Participants will smash their jack-o-lanterns and pumpkin decor with bats or at other smashing stations. ISO at least 3 volunteers
