195 Nassau Street Affordable Rental Apartments Application
  • Welcome to 195 Nassau Street Affordable Rental Apartments

  • Thank you for your interest. This document is the application for the very low-, low-, and moderate-income apartments that will soon become available at 195 Nassau Street in Princeton, NJ. Your first step toward potentially renting one of the nine affordable apartments is to fully complete and submit this Preliminary Application.

  • Please fully complete and submit an application by 5pm on May 8, 2026.

Note: The application must be completed within one single session.  Incomplete applications will need to be started over.

  • Although any income-eligible household may apply, there will be a preference for applicants who live and/or work in Housing Region 4 (Mercer, Monmouth, and Ocean Counties).

  • Applications will be considered for eligibility based on applicable NJ state regulations. If applicants are determined to be eligible, applicants will be included in a random lottery process: a process by which currently income-eligible applicant-households are selected, at random, for placement in affordable housing units such that no preference, other than the county preference above, is given to one applicant over another.  This process does not guarantee that you will receive a rental apartment or be placed in a lottery.

  • Please note that you are applying for income qualified affordable apartments. As such, we are required by NJ state regulations to obtain eligibility information from all applicants, including income and asset-related information. Your cooperation in the application process is important and very much appreciated.

  • After we process your preliminary application, we will contact you regarding your preliminary eligibility and the next steps in the application process.

  • Please note that a criminal history and credit report will be processed for each adult household member as part of the final approval process. We recommend that applicants check their credit report and address/resolve any issues identified to ensure eligibility at the time of interview. Please see the NJ Fair Chance in Housing Disclosure Statement attached to the application for more information.  If your mailing address, household income, family size, and/or contact information change, it is your responsibility to contact us and provide us with the updated information.

  • Policies and Requirements

  • For All Applicants

    • This is an equal housing opportunity. Federal law prohibits discrimination against any person making application to rent a home regarding age, race, religion, national origin, sex, handicapped or familial status. State law prohibits discrimination based on race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, nationality, marital or domestic partnership or civil union status, familial status, sex, gender identity or expression, affectional or sexual orientation, disability, source of lawful income or source of lawful rent payment.
    • This affordable housing must be the intended primary residence of the applicant. All household members who intend to reside at the affordable apartment must be listed in the Preliminary Application. If changes in household composition occur during the application process, or if there is a change of address, the applicant is required to notify each rental office in writing, immediately.
    • Applications must be truthful, complete and accurate. Any false statement makes the application null and void and subjects the applicant to penalties imposed by law.
    • Annual income includes, but is not limited to, salary or wages, alimony, child support, social security benefits, unemployment benefits, pensions, regular contributions or gifts received from organizations or from persons not residing in the dwelling, business income, and actual or imputed earnings from assets (which include bank accounts, certificates of deposit, stocks, bonds, or other securities), and real estate.
    • If you own a home or other real estate, you need to report this to the rental office. The value of your real estate will be subject to a maximum appraised value limit, which, when exceeded, may disqualify you from continuing with the application process.
    • Specific documentation to verify income and assets will be required at a later date, during the final portion of the application process, during which no changes will be allowed.
    • Please note that social security cards may be required for all members of the household in order to complete the application process, but are not necessary for this preliminary application.
