  • CAROLYN FOSTER VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

  • 'In memory and appreciation of Carolyn Foster for her outstanding volunteer commitment to Alberta Baton Twirling Association'

  • Carolyn’s journey with baton twirling started in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1981 as a recreational baton parent and evolved over the years into larger roles like Club Chairperson, ABTA Vice Chairperson and ABTA Chairperson until her passing in 2005.

If there was ever a project to get done, committee to sit on, volunteer position to fill, fundraiser to organize, you could count on her to be there to help, with no expectation of reward or acclamation (just maybe meeting new friends and sharing some laughs).

In her leadership roles, it was important to her that the sport of baton twirling always be one of equal opportunity for all level of athletes, providing a fun and safe community and creating wonderful memories.

  • The Carolyn Foster Volunteer of the Year award is presented annually to someone who has made a significant contribution to sport on a volunteer level. This deserving individual is someone who has gone above and beyond in developing, guiding and promoting sport; someone who is making an exceptional contribution to the present and future of baton twirling in Alberta.
