Consent for Voice Submissions
Project Title: Library of Dysfluent Voices by SPACE and Luke Wyland
Project Description:
The Library of Dysfluent Voices, hosted by SPACE—a nonprofit advocating for people who stutter through the arts—is a collection of voice recordings from dysfluent speakers around the world. This evolving resource invites people to share their unique voices and hear others who speak like them. It celebrates and increases public representation of stuttering and speech diversity, serving as both a cultural archive and a platform for connection.
Recordings submitted to the Library may also, with consent, be used in original artistic works—including music and “voice portraits”—that explore and honor dysfluent speech as a creative and expressive form. These works may take the shape of installations, performances, and educational materials aligned with the mission of the Library and SPACE.
Consent
I, the undersigned participant, hereby consent to participate in the Library of Dysfluent Voices. I understand and agree to the following terms:
Use of Submission:
I grant the organizers the right to use, edit, modify, adapt, reproduce, distribute, perform, exhibit, and create derivative works from my voice submission for the following purposes:
Inclusion in the Library of Dysfluent Voices:
My voice submission may be included in the open-access Library and made publicly accessible. If I choose to submit them, my name, country, and photograph may be shared alongside my recording.
Creative Work Derived from the Library:
My submission may be incorporated into artistic works—such as music compositions, installations, or “voice portraits”—that are inspired by or built from the Library recordings. Any such use will reflect the mission of celebrating and representing dysfluent speech.
Promotion and Documentation:
My voice submission may be used to promote the Library and related creative projects, including in social media posts, public presentations, exhibitions, press materials, or educational content.
Archiving and Accessibility:
My voice submission may be archived and made available for historical, documentary, and educational purposes.
Streaming and Distribution:
My submission may be broadcast, streamed, or distributed across digital or physical platforms, in both commercial and non-commercial contexts.
Modification and Adaptation:
The organizers may adapt or edit my submission as needed for technical or artistic clarity, while preserving its integrity and original context.
Public Access (Not Open-Source): I understand that while my recording may be made publicly accessible for listening as part of the Library of Dysfluent Voices, it will not be downloadable or openly licensed for reuse. The organizers will retain control over how the recordings are shared and used outside of the Library platform. Any additional use by third parties will require permission from the organizers.
Ownership:
I understand that while I retain personal rights to my voice, the organizers may hold copyright over any derivative works created from it, such as musical compositions or installations.
Release:
I release the organizers and their affiliates from any liability related to the use or sharing of my submission as outlined above.
Confidentiality:
My personal information will be handled in accordance with privacy laws and will not be shared without my consent, except as necessary for the stated purposes.
Duration:
This consent remains valid indefinitely unless I revoke it in writing.
By submitting this form, I acknowledge that I have read and understood the above terms and voluntarily agree to contribute to the Library of Dysfluent Voices.
