SDCC Mission: The South Dallas Cultural Center provides programs in the performing, literary, and visual arts with an emphasis on the African contribution to world culture. We facilitate enriching and dynamic opportunities for the Dallas community to experience, examine, and celebrate black creative culture.
Artists are selected based on their demonstrated mastery of the subject matter, artistic skill, and professional experience. Selection is not influenced by race, creed, ethnicity, or any other protected characteristic. Participation in classes and programs is open and welcoming to all individuals, regardless of background.

Eligibility
Emerging and established visual artists
Artists whose work engages with or is inspired by Black music and its cultural significance
Artists of any background are welcome, but the work must meaningfully engage the theme
Exhibition Details
Artwork on display: May 21 – June 27, 2026
Format: Gallery exhibition, installations, or wall-mounted works
Support Provided: Exhibition space, promotion, and inclusion in SDCC marketing materials
Submission Requirements
All submissions must include:
Artist Statement & Bio – Brief overview of your work and connection to the theme (150–300 words)
Portfolio / Artwork Images – High-quality images of proposed pieces (include title, medium, dimensions, and year)
Proposal Narrative – Explain how your work engages Black music and its cultural significance (100–200 words)
Technical / Installation Requirements – Any special needs for installation (hanging, electrical, etc.)
