  • Tournament Information

    Dates: July 25-26, 2026 (tentative travel dates: July 23 - July 27, 2026)

    Location: Shonai, Japan 

    USA is allotted one (1) U16 Boys' Singles player and one (1) U16 Girls' Singles player. The athlete selection for this tournament is held in conjunction with the 2026 Bintang OLC on March 13-15, 2026.

    Job Responsibilities/Expectations for the Coach position

    The selected coach is responsible for providing strategies and techniques to allow the athletes to reach their highest level of competition. The selected coach motivates the athletes, develops sportsmanship, game appreciation, and self-esteem.


    Take on roles as Coach and Team Manager, if needed, responsibilities includes coordinate with the local organizers, booking practice courts, managing media relations, and such.


    This is a volunteer position with long and unpredictable hours. The tournament organizers will provide a stipend for airfare and cover (4) nights of hotel (check in on July 23, 2026; check out on July 27, 2026). The coach will cover the difference in the airfare and all other fees. USAB will not be funding this position.


    Commitment for the selected individual

    Once the coaching position is assigned and the applicant has accepted, the applicant's failure to fulfill their responsibilities will impact their future assignments.

    • All applicants are expected to be able to use communication technology (mainly WhatsApp and Emails).
    • Two weeks after the end of the tournament, the individuals should work together and provide a detailed report to submit to USAB (Athlete Services Manager).
    • Each assigned coaching staff member should remain independent regardless of their affiliate of current or past club, player, or business, and manage Conflict of Interest situations at the competition.
      Who Can Apply

    This application is open to all USAB coaches who have completed the BWF Coach Education Level 1 (online component) and who are in good standing with USAB.

    Applicants must be a USAB member, must be compliant with SafeSport education, and must be current members of USAB in good standing and have an active (current green light) NCSI background check on file by the start of the tournament.

    USAB is selecting one coach for this tournament. The selected coach will need to apply for the 2026-2027 USAB Coaching Pass once the application is opened.
