RELEASE OF LIABILITY & ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Participation in the 2026 Community Cleanup is voluntary and involves outdoor activities including, but not limited to, walking, lifting, bending, handling tools, working near streets and traffic, and removing debris.

I understand that participation involves inherent risks, including personal injury, illness (including exposure to communicable diseases), property damage, and risks associated with weather conditions, terrain, tools, traffic, conditions of public streets, sidewalks, and surrounding areas, and other participants.

I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, including those arising from the negligence of the Community Cleanup, West Grand Neighborhood Organization, affiliated neighborhood associations, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (collectively referred to as the “Event Organizers”).

To the fullest extent permitted by Michigan law, I release and hold harmless the Event Organizers from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation in this event.

This release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Michigan. If any portion of this agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

INDEMNIFICATION

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Event Organizers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, arising from my participation in the event or from any claims brought by a minor participant listed under my supervision.

MEDIA RELEASE

The Community Cleanup is a public event conducted in open community spaces where photography and video recording may occur.

By participating, I grant the Event Organizers irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free permission to use my name, image, likeness, and voice in photographs, video recordings, and other media for promotional, educational, fundraising, reporting, and community engagement purposes in any format now known or later developed.

I waive any right to inspect or approve such materials and release the Event Organizers from any claims arising from their use.

MINOR PARTICIPANT CONSENT

If I am registering minor child(ren), I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the minor(s) listed on Page 1 and consent to their participation.

I understand that event organizers do not provide child supervision and that I am solely responsible for supervising my minor child(ren) during the event.

All releases, waivers, and assumptions of risk contained in this agreement apply to my minor child(ren) to the fullest extent permitted by law.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT

By signing below, I acknowledge that:

• I have read and understand this document in full.
• I understand that I am giving up significant legal rights.
• I voluntarily agree to these terms.
