We see you, we hear you and we are on your side! You can count on us to stick to our word when it comes to the league and we hope your time as a volunteer with Community Champs is life giving and enjoyable!

TIME COMMITMENT: ONE PRE SEASON DATE AND THEN THE 5 WEEK SEASON- 6 total saturdays

Community CHAMPS coaches are experts in prioritizing fun, player development, and sportsmanship over winning, while still having competitive nature!

As coaches, we should create a positive and engaging environment for all CHAMPS, focusing on teaching fundamental skills, promoting teamwork, and instilling values like respect and determination. Safety is also a paramount concern, with coaches expected to follow established protocols and prioritize the well-being of all players.

Ways we Focus on Player Development

Skill Development:  Coaches should be knowledgeable about the sport and able to teach age-appropriate skills and techniques. (the first 2-3 weeks every team follows a league wide STATIONS CURRICULUM for the first 25 minutes of practice *conditioning, throwing, catching, game knowledge*the remainder of practice you will run offense and defense plays. We provide a simple playbook you can use/expand off of)

Sportsmanship: Coaches are responsible for teaching and modeling good sportsmanship, including respect for opponents, officials, and teammates.

Teamwork: Coaches should foster a positive team environment where players learn to cooperate and support each other.

Confidence Building: Coaches should create an environment where players feel encouraged to try new things and build their confidence.

Positive Attitude: Coaches are expected to be enthusiastic and create a fun atmosphere for the players. Energy is contagious, we want our champs to want to catch ours!

    Prioritizing Fun and Safety:
Coaches must prioritize the safety of all players, ensuring they are following safety guidelines and using proper equipment. Shirts have to be tucked in at all times, the adjustment string on the flag belts need to be rolled up and safely tucked away and not hanging, mouthpieces are worn (unless parents signed a waiver for no mouthpiece)

Age-Appropriate Instruction: Coaches should adapt their teaching methods to the age and skill level of the players.

Patience: Coaches need patience and understanding, recognizing that youth sports are about learning and having fun, not just winning.

Self Control:  Maintaing good character, body language and words when things do not go the way you expected them to

Expectations of your time:  COMMUNITY CHAMPS utilizes a one-day-a-week format with practice followed by a game. for ages 5&6 this is a 40 minutes practice and 35 minute game. For ages 7-9 and 10-14 this is a 45 minute practice followed up by a 45 minute game

Training and Support: COMMUNITY CHAMPS provides coaches with resources, training, and support to help them succeed. (Group in person meeting pre season on MAY 23 (time TBD), coach text chat thread, 15 minute prior to scheduled event expectation)

Sportsmanship Values: COMMUNITY CHAMPS emphasizes specific sportsmanship values (like respect, positivity, and teamwork) and provides coaches with age-appropriate lessons to teach these values.
