Friday Kick-Off/Welcome Event

Kick off reunion weekend by reconnecting with classmates in a relaxed setting at Olde Mill Properties.

This unique venue includes several great spots to explore, including Ten & Two Coffee, Spirits, & Games, Quentin's BBQ & Sides, Olde Mill Ice Cream Shop, Outfield Beer Company, and more. There is even a hidden speakeasy-style bar tucked inside the property for those who want to discover it!

Appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided, and a caricature artist will be on-site to capture the fun.

This informal gathering is the perfect opportunity to mingle, catch up, and start our reunion weekend with old friends.

30th Reunion "Diamonds & Pearls" Gala

 

It's been 30 years since we walked the halls of

Sumner Academy of Arts and Science together.

 

The highlight of the weekend! Join the Sumner Academy Class of 1996 for an evening of great food, music, and celebration at one of the newest attractions in Kansas City, Kansas, the Margaritaville Hotel & Resort.

We have secured the main ballroom for a special evening where classmates can reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate 30 years since graduation. Our theme, "Diamonds & Pearls," brings together the traditional symbol of the pearl for a 30-year milestone, representing wisdom and longevity, with the modern symbol of the diamond, which reflects the strength and resilience of our class and the lasting relationships we share.

Unofficial Events

These are optional activities taking place earlier in the week for those who would like to turn the celebration into a full reunion week!

Please note that the 5th Annual Sumner Open Golf Tournament is not organized or managed by the Class of 1996 30th Reunion Planning Committee and is not included in the official reunion registration package. However, several classmates have expressed interest in participating and have enjoyed this event in the past.

We are working with Atlas 9 to arrange seating and possible group ticket pricing. More details will be provided soon. Any costs associated with this activity are not included in the reunion registration package fee. 

5th Annual Sumner Open Golf Tournament

The 5th Annual Sumner Open Golf Tournament is an annual event hosted by Wayne Gray (Class of 1983) and the Sumner Foundation. Join fellow Sumner alumni for a fun and competitive day on the course as classes come together to represent and reconnect.

You already know that the Class of 1996 is going to represent! 

All proceeds benefit the Sumner Academy Athletic Department and are tax-deductible. Throughout the day, there will be raffles, great prizes, and plenty of friendly competition.

Atlas 9- Unofficial Reunion Kick-Off Meet Up

We are planning a casual, unofficial meet-up at Atlas 9 for anyone who will already be in town and would like to start the reunion celebrations early.

Atlas 9 offers a unique entertainment experience featuring a traditional concession stand, a full pizza parlor, and a hidden speakeasy. The venue also includes a 240-seat theater-style auditorium, a 1930s-style jazz club, a classic arcade, and more.

The main attraction is an immersive escape room experience with a twist, taking visitors on a journey through the greatness of the 1990s.

We are currently exploring options for reserved seating and group pricing for classmates interested in joining us.
