Our organization works with many dogs that may have experienced neglect, abandonment, or instability before coming into our care. Many of the animals we place are pit bull–type breeds or mixes, which often face housing discrimination and misunderstanding. Because of this, we carefully evaluate each home to ensure our dogs are placed with adopters who are prepared to advocate for them and provide lifelong care.By continuing with this application, the applicant acknowledges and agrees to the following responsibilities:

By providing us with this information you are allowing us to call your vet. Please inform them and ask them to authorize the release of information to PAWPS.
Will you prioritize to pay for necessary medical care, grooming, proper diet, shelter and exercise for your new adopted pet?

The Adopter agrees, as a condition of adoption, that the animal will be kept solely as a family companion and provided with a safe and secure home, adequate food and water, proper veterinary care, exercise, and consistent attention; that all applicable laws and ordinances will be followed; and that PAWPS will be notified immediately if the animal is lost, stolen, injured, or deceased. The animal shall remain indoors unless in a secure, escape-proof enclosure with appropriate shelter from environmental conditions. The Adopter agrees to maintain annual veterinary examinations and all necessary vaccinations and medical care, including dental treatment. In the event euthanasia is considered, PAWPS must be notified in advance and the procedure performed by a licensed veterinarian. The Adopter agrees to keep all contact and microchip information current, listing PAWPS as a secondary contact. If at any time the Adopter is unable to retain the animal, PAWPS must be contacted immediately, and under no circumstances may the animal be sold, transferred, surrendered, or otherwise disposed of without prior written consent; the animal must be returned directly to PAWPS. The Adopter further agrees to either (A) continue fostering the animal while PAWPS arranges placement, including providing timely photos, videos, and behavioral updates, or (B) cover the cost of safe transportation for return. PAWPS reserves the right to reclaim the animal if these terms are violated or if the animal’s welfare is deemed at risk, and the Adopter acknowledges and agrees to these conditions as part of a legally binding agreement.

In the case of animal welfare concerns, PAWPS Rescue may reclaim if we see reason to be concerned for the overall welfare and health of the rescue dog. If requested, the adopter will return the dog peacefully and fully cooperate *
I understand that a home (or video) visit is REQUIRED as part of our adoption process, prior to final placement, and that a home (or video) visit does not guarantee placement.
I will pay a standard adoption fee set by the rescue. Note: Adoption fees start at $250 and increase depending on various factors. Pawps Rescue takes into consideration the dogs age, breed, medical interventions, training investment, etc. when determining the adoption fee for a selected pet.
If I wish to cancel my adoption, I understand that I will forfeit 100% of my adoption fee if cancellation is less than 7 days from the date the animal is placed in my home. If cancellation is more than 7 days from the date the animal is place in my home, I understand I may not receive any of my adoption fee back. Refunding adoption fees is at the full discretion of Pawps Rescue personnel.
I understand that Pawps Rescue does not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis. Their priority is the well-being of their dogs and they will be adopted based on the needs of that particular dog.
I understand that the animal I want to rescue was previously unwanted or lost, and may have been subjected to a dangerous, unhealthy, and/or cruel living situation prior to being saved. This could have long-lasting effects on the animal.
I will be willing to waive all rights and claims against Pawps Rescue personnel for expenses (in any amount) or damages incurred by reason of the placement. I will also be willing to agree to indemnify and hold Pawps Rescue personnel harmless for any injuries to persons or damages caused while the pet is in the possession, custody, or control of me
Adopter permits Pawps Rescue to conduct unannounced welfare checks on the adopted dog and will always allow access for such checks if concerned for the dog's well-being as deemed necessary by Pawps Rescue.
