  • The Nova Scotia Lifesaving Society's Annual General Meeting & Affiliate Workshop will be held on April 23rd at the Atlantica Hotel Halifax. 

  • The Symposium will continue April 24th-26th at the John W. Lindsay YMCA in Halifax. Please fill out what events you plan on attending.

    REMINDER - Hotel reservation information:
    For our affiliates and members located outside of same day travel distance who may wish to book a hotel room we do have a block room booking with the our AGM host The Atlantica Hotel. To take advantage of this pricing you may do so by: 

    Contacting the Atlantica Hotel reservations by March 23 at 902-423-1161, toll free at 1-888-810-7288, or email via guestservices@atlanticahalifax.com You must identify as Lifesaving Society group member to receive this pricing. After March 23 our block booking is released and rooms available at this pricing rate will be on a space availability basis.

      Pricing $282.00 + 3% destination marketing levy and 14% hst,  for a single/double room  extra person policy is $20.00 + 14 % has per room per night to a maximum of 4 people per room.

  • Affiliate Workshop buffet style Lunch: 12:00pm - 1:00pm - There will be gluten free and vegetarian options as part of the standard menu*
  • 1pm-4pm Starting with our KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Lisa Hanson Ouellette, Flowing in the right direction: Looking below the surface to understand currents of behaviour change. Followed by our Affiliate workshop and info session to include: Programs and System Update, "From the administration desk", & Safety Standards Resources.*

  • Annual General Meeting: light refreshments provided beginning at 6pm, The AGM Business meeting begins at 6:30pm (this section will be available online), Affiliate, Sport awards presentations and Past presidents reception to follow.*

  • April 24th, 2026 - Free Symposium Day sessions 9am-4pm

  • Join Wendy Schultenkamper, the Lifesaving Society Canada CEO for an engaging discussion on National Drowning Prevention Week. This session will explore effective ways to connect with your community and feature an open roundtable to spark ideas and collaboration for the future. With over 40 years of experience in aquatics, Wendy brings expertise in lifeguarding, training, and the management and operation of indoor aquatic facilities.

  • With other topics this day including some wet and some dry sessions on: Programming with Influence; pitching the value for buy in how can we help you program in the morning. Afternoon (1/2 dry 1/2 wet great afternoon for Senior / Team Lead staff): STS: Structure, how to make a community impact, "Winter edition". Junior Lifeguard Club & Lifesaving Sport how to structure these programs, Rescue Equipment / Sport activity.*
  • 12-1pm boxed lunches (Provided by Jane's Next Door for dietary options please use "other" option: gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and some allergy options available for more details you can check their website)*

  • April 25th & 26th, 2026

  • National Lifeguard Instructor course  9:00am - 6:00pm  To register please apply using the Leadership Application form or via the QR code below. Cost for the course is $250.  (If you live more than 100km away from the YMCA we may have support funding available for you to attend this course).  If this applies to you please indicate this on your application form.
