    1. Right of admission reserved. Organisers reserve the right to combine sections.
    2. Recording moves on a scoresheet is mandatory in standard time controls. This serves as the primary evidence for resolving disputes.
    3. All players to be quiet in the playing area. There is no dress code for the tournament.
    4. Mobile phones or communication devices are strictly forbidden from the playing area. If the player is found with a device the player will loose the game immediately.
    5. The following tie-break systems will be used (in the order listed).
      For Swiss Pairings: 1) Direct Encounter, 2) Bucholz, 3) Sonneborn-Berger.
      For Round Robin Tournaments: 1) Direct Encounter, 2) Sonneborn-Berger 3) Koya
    6. Players must attend prize-giving, to qualify for prizes. This will be held after the last round in each section.
    7. No refunds. If you withdraw or do not show up, you forfeit your entry fee. (provided only that if the tournament is full when your entry fee is received, you will be refunded).
    8. The default time for each round in all standard tournaments is 15 minutes. For Rapid and Blitz tournaments, it is 0 minutes
    9. Players to bring their own pen/pencil. Notation paper will be provided.
    10. No parents or spectators are allowed in the designated playing area. Players that have finished their games shall leave the playing hall; not return before the next round.
    11. By entering this tournament, the player agrees unconditionally to abide by all the rules and regulations.
    12. The organisers of the tournament are not responsible for the safety of players or their property.
    13. Latest Fide and Chess SA Tournament rules will apply.
    14. All sections Chessa Rated. Only players who have registered Chess SA and paid their yearly Chess SA registration fees for the year will be able to gain rating points.
    15. No food or drinks may be brought into any of the playing or restaurant areas, other than those purchased from the restaurant.

    17. All announcements and pairings will be posted on the whatsapp group. It remains the player's responsibility to know their board number. colour and start time of the next round. Please make sure you join the group.
    18. Sofia Rules will apply players are not allowed to agree to a draw during the first 30 moves of a game unless there are unavoidable circumstances like perpetual check, threefold repetition, or a completely symmetrical position, and these draws must be approved by the tournament arbiter.

    21. Proof of Payment (PoP) confirms registration to tournament and only players that send PoP will be listed on Chess Results.
    22. Closing date: When the tournament is full or 3pm on day of tournament. (whichever comes first)
    23. Only players whose payments have been confirmed, will be published and put into the pairings for Round 1.
    24. by registering for the tournament, players/parents grant permission that photographs or videos may be taken at the tournament and used on social media.

    26. Appeals must be done in writing and accompanied by a R200 fee (refundable if appeal is successful). Appeals must be done within 15 minutes of the incident of the round in question and before the publishing of the next round. Written appeal will contain a copy of the notation of the game in contention. Without the evidence (written appeal and notation) no dispute will be entertained.
