  • This document outlines the Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy and Non-Discrimination Policy applicable to all Volunteer Success Coaches serving at Edge High School. These policies are reviewed during onboarding and must be acknowledged prior to working with students.
  • Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy

  • Purpose

  • Edge High School is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all students. Sexual abuse, sexual misconduct, and boundary violations of any kind are strictly prohibited. This policy establishes clear expectations, prevention measures, and reporting requirements for all Volunteer Success Coaches.
  • Scope

  • This policy applies to all Volunteer Success Coaches, regardless of role, schedule, or duration of service.
  • Prohibited Conduct

  • Volunteer Success Coaches shall not engage in:
    • Any form of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, or sexual misconduct involving a student
    • Inappropriate physical contact, sexualized comments, jokes, gestures, or communications
    • Romantic or sexual relationships with students, regardless of age or perceived consent
    • One-on-one interactions with students in secluded, unsupervised, or non-transparent settings
    • Electronic or social media communication with students outside approved Edge High School platforms and guidelines
  • Professional Boundaries

  • Volunteer Success Coaches are expected to:
    • Maintain clear, professional boundaries at all times
    • Use appropriate language and behavior in all interactions with students
    • Avoid situations that could be misinterpreted or place students or coaches at risk
    • Follow Edge High School guidelines for supervision, visibility, and appropriate touch
  • Mandatory Reporting

  • Volunteer Success Coaches are mandatory reporters under Arizona law.
    • Any suspicion, disclosure, or knowledge of sexual abuse, neglect, or inappropriate conduct involving a student must be reported immediately in accordance with Edge High School's Mandatory Reporting procedures
    • Reports must be made to appropriate school administrators and required authorities without delay
    • Failure to report may result in removal from the program and legal consequences
  • Training & Compliance

  • All Volunteer Success Coaches must:
    • Complete required onboarding and training related to sexual abuse prevention and mandatory reporting
    • Acknowledge understanding of this policy in writing
    • Cooperate fully with any investigation related to alleged misconduct
  • Enforcement

  • Violation of this policy may result in immediate removal from volunteer service and may be reported to law enforcement or other appropriate authorities.
  • Non-Discrimination Policy

  • Purpose

  • Edge High School is committed to maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and respectful environment for all students, staff, and volunteers. Discrimination or harassment of any kind is not tolerated.
  • Policy Statement

  • Edge High School does not discriminate on the basis of:
    • Race
    • Color
    • National origin
    • Sex
    • Sexual orientation
    • Gender identity or expression
    • Religion
    • Disability
    • Age
    • Any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law
  • This policy applies to all programs, activities, and interactions involving Volunteer Success Coaches.
  • Expectations for Volunteer Success Coaches

  • Volunteer Success Coaches are expected to:
    • Treat all students with dignity, respect, and fairness
    • Support an inclusive environment that values diversity and belonging
    • Refrain from discriminatory language, behavior, or actions
    • Address students using their affirmed names and pronouns, when known
    • Model respectful and professional conduct at all times
  • Harassment

  • Harassment based on any protected characteristic is strictly prohibited. This includes verbal, physical, visual, or electronic conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.
  • Reporting Concerns

  • Any volunteer who witnesses or experiences discrimination or harassment must:
    • Report the concern promptly to an Edge High School administrator
    • Cooperate with any investigation
    • Understand that retaliation for reporting concerns is prohibited
  • Enforcement

  • Violations of this policy may result in corrective action, up to and including removal from volunteer service.

  • I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to comply with the Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy and Non-Discrimination Policy as a condition of my service as a Volunteer Success Coach at Edge High School.
