• Clayton County Humane Society Community Service Agreement

  • Community Service at CCHS involves supporting the staff and volunteers with shelter maintenance and cleaning. This includes cleaning up after the pets at the shelter, cleaning the cages, pens, kennels, and exterior property. PPE (gloves and masks) are provided by the shelter. CS participants must wear long pants, and closed-toe shoes when appearing for community service.

    Shift times listed below are estimates, shifts may last longer or end earlier based on the number of participants scheduled.
    M-F 9AM - 11AM and 3PM - 6PM
    Saturday 9AM until 2PM*
    Sunday 9AM until 5PM*


    *Scheduling for Saturday and Sunday requires CS Participants to appear for the entire shift. Do not reserve for those shifts if you cannot appear for the entire duration.


    Additional Information:
    On the day you register in the office staff may offer you a shift if they need support. Otherwise, when you complete your first full shift, you will be credited for time spent registering and scheduling.


    If your probation officer requires documentation that you have registered for Community Service, you can take an image of your signed agreement and the shifts you scheduled when you register. We do not provide any other documentation before you have completed your first shift.

  • General Requirements

    • No personal items are allowed inside the shelter. This includes cell phones, earbuds/earphones,electronic devices, purses, backpacks, and coolers.o
    • All personal items must remain in your vehicle or placed in a clear plastic bag that fits in yourpocket.
    • CCHS is not responsible for personal items left in vehicles or on CCHS property.
    • NO WEAPONS of any kind are permitted on CCHS property.
    • You must be 18 years or older to participate in community service at CCHS.

    Scheduling & Attendance

    • Morning shift begins at 9:00 AM; afternoon shift begins at 4:00 PM.
      • Anyone arriving more than 10 minutes late will not be permitted to stay for that shift.
    • If you are unable to attend a scheduled shift, you must provide 24-hour notice.
      • Failure to do so will be counted as a No Call, No Show.
      • After a second No Call, No Show, you will be removed from the program, and your probationofficer will be notified.
    • You must provide your time sheet from your probation officer at the start of participation.

    Dress Code

    To ensure safety and professionalism, the following attire is required:

    • No tank tops, sleeveless shirts, short shorts, baggy pants, pajamas, or leggings.
    • Pants must be secured with a belt if loose.
    • No sandals or open-toed shoes. Closed-toe shoes are required at all times.

    Anyone arriving in inappropriate attire will be sent home.

     

    Conduct & Safety Rules

    Animal Interaction Restrictions (Strictly Enforced)

    To protect both workers and animals, community service workers are not permitted to:

    • Handle, pet, touch, or interact with any dogs or other animals.
    • Feed any animals.
    • Enter any kennel for any reason.
    • Open, close, or operate guillotine doors, kennel doors, gates, or any animal enclosure.

    Only trained CCHS staff are authorized to handle animals or operate kennels and equipment.Violation of these rules will result in immediate removal from the program.

    General Conduct

    • You must stay within the designated fenced areas unless given a specific assignment by CCHS staff.
    • Wandering on the property is not permitted.
    • Smoking is only allowed in designated smoking areas.
      • Smoking is prohibited inside the building, near entrances, or in outdoor dog runs.
      • Cigarette butts must be disposed of in proper containers.
    • You must sign a release/waiver before beginning any work.
    • You must provide the name and contact phone number for the probation officer or referring agencysupervising your community service hours.

    Program Removal

    Failure to follow any of the above rules may result in:

    • Immediate termination from the CCHS community service program
    • Notification of your probation officer or referring agency
