The opening reception of Disabled Women Make History and Art will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Toledo Museum of Art Education wing from 5:30-7:30pm ET. The two exclusive workshops for the selected artists will take place on Saturday, June 20th from 11:45am-3pm ET in Classroom 139. Please note that due to the nature of the space and the active engagement of artists and attendees, the space can become loud and some may find the event overstimulating. We will offer a quiet respite space for those who may need it. We also have masks, earplugs, and other sensory tools available at the event. The workshops are: 1. Know Your ArtWorth Creating and sharing art with the community is the first step in changing your hobby into a source of income, but for some artists it can be hard to take the leap when they’re unsure of their art’s worth. This workshop is designed to help resolve this dilemma for beginning artists. In Know Your ArtWorth, participants will receive insight and advice on pricing and negotiating the sale of their artwork. Every artist deserves to be paid for their materials, time, effort, and unique vision and through this workshop they will know just how to make that happen. 2. The Art of Public Speaking The Art of Public Speaking provides artists with techniques and tools to strengthen their public speaking skills. Participants will be invited to practice communicating about the background and meaning of their art and receive feedback and support in improving their ability to do so in a safe and collaborative environment. This interactive workshop will leave every artist confident in their ability to share the message and story of their artwork with anyone who asks.
