Stacey Maricheau Thomas was initiated as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, on April 13, 1997, through the Theta Gamma Chapter at the University of South Carolina. After her graduation in May 1997, with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Stacey joined the Emeralds of Excellence interest group in the summer of 1997. One year later, she was one of sixteen (16) members who chartered Upsilon Omega Omega chapter on May 9, 1998. Stacey served as an officer during the first term of the chapter, and she loved being involved in the initial service projects developed by Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter. One of her favorite service projects was Habitat for Humanity. She later received her Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina.
This scholarship honors Stacey Maricheau Thomas’s legacy as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and a charter member of Upsilon Omega Omega chapter. She was a dedicated community leader who touched many lives and she believed in lifelong education. Her legacy will live through her family, friends, colleagues, and those who receive and benefit from this scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria:
· Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate during the 2026-2027 academic year
· Must be an active member of Mu, Psi, Theta Gamma, or Upsilon Zeta in good standing (financial and academic)
· Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
· Must be able to demonstrate leadership abilities
· Submission of an essay, educational resume, and appropriate headshot
· Submit an official transcript
