    The Krewe of Ousia is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for single parents enrolled full-time in a college or university in Atlanta, Georgia! Our "Double the Effort with Degrees and Diapers" program aims to support dedicated single mothers and fathers who are pursuing their education while balancing the demanding responsibilities of parenthood. One winner will be selected in the Fall 2026 and another in the Spring 2027 semester. Each will receive a $600 Gift Card to help ease the challenges of being both a student and a parent. If you are a single parent between the ages of 17 and 30, enrolled full-time in a college or university in Atlanta, Georgia, we want to hear from you! Share your story, highlight the challenges you face, and tell us why education is so important to you and your family.

  • Qualifications:

    • Must be a single parent (mother or father).
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at a college or university located in Atlanta, Georgia with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.6.
    • Must upload current unofficial transcript from high learning institution.
    • Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 30.
    • Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to both education and parenting.
    • One award will be given ( 2 different applicants) in the Fall semester and another in the Spring semester.

  • Criteria:

    To be eligible for this award, applicants must submit an essay answering the following questions in a personal and authentic manner. Essays should not exceed 200 words per question and should be submitted by the specified deadline.

    1. How do you manage the daily responsibilities of being a single parent while maintaining your focus and dedication to your college education? What specific challenges do you face in balancing schoolwork, parenting, and personal time?
    2. How do you cope with moments of doubt or overwhelm, and what keeps you going?
    3. Why is your education so important to you, and what do you hope to achieve through it?
    4. How has education shaped or influenced your life, both personally and for your child(ren)?
    5. How has being a parent shaped who you are today, both as a person and as a student?

  • Age Range:

    Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 30 years old.

  • Award Details:

    • Prize: $600 Gift Card
    • Number of Awards: Two Different Applicants (one for Fall semester, one for Spring semester)
    • Use of Award: The gift card can be used to purchase essentials, school supplies, or anything else that may support you and your family.
