Service Agreement & Policies
1. Services & Scheduling
• Service: The Sitter agrees to provide the services selected (overnight care, drop-in visits, walking, or transportation) as outlined in the booking confirmation.
• Overnight Care: For overnight stays, the Sitter ensures that pets will not be left unattended for more than 8 consecutive hours.
• Inclement Weather: For the safety of the pet, scheduled walks may be converted to drop-in visits if temperatures fall below 32°F or exceed safe heat thresholds. A brief "potty break" (under 10 minutes) will be provided if no yard is available.
• Meet & Greet: A complimentary meet-and-greet is required for all new clients to ensure compatibility and safety before services are confirmed.
2. Payment & Deposits
• Booking Deposit: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure all booking dates.
• Exception: The deposit is only refundable if the cancellation is made at least 72 hours prior to the service start date.
• Balance Due: The remaining balance is due 5 days prior to the first scheduled visit.
• Short-Notice Bookings: Payments for services booked within 7 days of the first visit must be paid in full at the time of booking.
• Recurring Bookings: Payments must be made on a week-by-week basis and are due in full prior to the first visit of that week.
• Payment Methods: Accepted methods are Zelle (preferred), Venmo, Paypal, Check or Cash.
• Late Payment: Failure to submit payment within the required timeframe may result in the release of your booking dates. Services will be delayed or canceled until payment is received in full.
3. Cancellation & Early Returns
• 72-Hour Policy: Cancellations made at least 72 hours before the scheduled visit are eligible for a 50% refund of the total cost. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the visit are non-refundable.
• Early Returns: If the Client returns home early or delays departure, Josie’s Pet Sitting must be notified immediately. No refunds or credits will be issued for early returns or unused visits once services have begun.
4. Client Obligations & Supplies
• The Client agrees to provide all necessary information regarding the pet’s health, behavior, and daily routine.
• Provision of Supplies: The Client must supply food, medication, waste bags, leashes, and any other necessary items.
• Supply Fee: If the Sitter must use their own supplies (e.g., waste bags), a $5 fee will be applied.
• Treat Policy: The Sitter may provide treats at no additional cost. These treats are strictly chicken-free (typically beef or lamb-based). If the Client prefers that no treats be given, this must be communicated in writing.
5. Home Access & Security
• Access: The Client must provide reliable access to the home via keys, codes, or entry instructions.
• Lockouts: The Sitter is not liable for missed visits due to malfunctioning locks or denied access. Any locksmith fees incurred due to failed access are the Client’s responsibility.
• Surveillance Policy: * Disclosure: As much as Josie’s Pet sitting understands the importance of camera, all indoor and outdoor cameras must be disclosed prior to service.
• Privacy: Cameras are strictly prohibited in private areas such as guest bedrooms or bathrooms for the safety and privacy of the sitter.
6. Health, Safety & Emergencies
• Vaccinations: The Client confirms all pets are current on vaccinations and flea/tick prevention.
• Emergency Care: In a medical emergency, the Sitter will attempt to contact the Client immediately. If unreachable, the Sitter is authorized to seek veterinary care at the Client’s expense.
• Certifications: The Sitter maintains current Pet CPR and First Aid certification.
• Behavioral Termination: Josie’s Pet Sitting reserves the right to terminate services if a pet exhibits aggressive or unsafe behavior, or if home conditions are deemed unsuitable.
7. Liability & Insurance
• Insurance: Josie’s Pet Sitting is fully insured through Pet Care Insurance. This covers incidents directly related to professional pet care services, along with that Josie’s Pet Sitting strictly goes off of the Illinois laws and regulations that are needed to be a pet sitter.
• Exclusions: Coverage does not extend to pre-existing conditions, owner negligence, or circumstances beyond the Sitter's control (e.g., pets escaping through faulty fencing or gates).
• Third-Party Liability: The Client is responsible for any medical expenses or damages resulting from their pet biting or injuring the Sitter or a third party.
8. Travel Fees
• Mileage: For any services provided beyond a 10-mile radius from the Sitter’s location, a fee of $0.65 per mile will be applied to cover travel costs.
By booking services, the Client acknowledges and agrees to the terms and conditions outlined above.
