  • Below is the Virginia FFA National Officer Candidate Application. Once completed, this application will be submitted to Virginia FFA and shared with the Supervisor of the Virginia FFA Nominating Committee Process. It will be reviewed by the Virginia FFA National Officer Nominating Committee. After submission, you will receive a copy of your completed application. All materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 15th.

    The selection process to determine Virginia’s nominee for National FFA Office will take place on May 29th on the Virginia Tech campus in the Etgen Building on Plantation Road. The nominating committee will be composed of Virginia FFA stakeholders, including educators, past national officers, and industry professionals.

  • National Officer Candidate Commitment Form

  • Candidates for national office must review and sign this commitment form as part of the application process. The national officer manager, supported by FFA staff, will uphold the expectations outlined here. Serving as a National FFA Officer is a unique and significant responsibility. In this role, you represent more than 700,000 FFA members, as well as the image and direction of the National FFA Organization, to educators, state staff, agricultural leaders, government officials, the media, and the public. You will also work closely with five fellow officers and more than 100 national FFA staff members. All National FFA Officers are expected to uphold the following commitments:

    1. Demonstrate dedication to FFA and to agricultural/agribusiness education.
    2. Abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and illegal substances throughout the year of service.
    3. Avoid activities or environments that could call your character or conduct into question.
    4. Use respectful, appropriate language in all formal and informal settings.
    5. Maintain professional dress and grooming at all times.
    6. Follow instructions from those responsible for national and state FFA programs.
    7. Protect and prioritize your personal health.
    8. Complete all correspondence—including letters, thank-you notes, and emails—promptly and reliably.
    9. Seek out and accept constructive feedback to improve performance.
    10. Prepare diligently to become an effective public speaker and consistently project a positive image of FFA.
    11. Commit your full year to national officer responsibilities.
    12. Travel as required to represent the National FFA Organization.
    13. Treat officer duties as your top priority.
    14. Develop strong conversational skills with people of all ages and backgrounds.
    15. Treat all FFA members fairly and without favoritism.
    16. Conduct yourself with dignity and earn respect without displaying superiority.
    17. Be personable, caring, and engaged in interactions with others, and regularly evaluate and improve your attitude and behavior.
    18. Work cooperatively as part of the officer team.
    19. Support fellow officers and avoid participating in conversations that undermine members, officers, or adults.
    20. Build knowledge of agriculture, agricultural education, and FFA.
    21. Commit to the preparation process by spending time in independent study, seeking advice, taking advantage of study sessions and opportunities.
    22. Stay informed about current events.
