Dear Parent or Guardian,
The Native Village of Dot Lake – TeeJuh Behavioral Health & Counseling Program will be implementing the evidence-based youth relationship education curriculum Love Notes for youth participants in our community programs and partner schools.
This program is designed to help youth develop healthy relationship skills, communication skills, and positive life planning strategies. The curriculum promotes respect, self-awareness, and healthy decision-making, helping young people build strong futures and safe relationships.
The Love Notes curriculum is widely used in youth development and prevention programs and is designed to help young people:
• Build healthy relationships
• Develop communication skills
• Understand personal boundaries and respect
• Reduce risky behaviors that can lead to unintended pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections
• Strengthen future planning and goal setting
The program will be facilitated by trained instructors through the TeeJuh Behavioral Health Program and may be delivered through workshops, youth gatherings, or school-based sessions.
Students will participate in 13 structured lessons that include discussions, activities, and reflection exercises. Some activities encourage family conversations so parents and youth can discuss important topics together.
Parents and guardians are welcome to review the Love Notes curriculum materials at any time. Please contact the TeeJuh Behavioral Health Program if you would like to preview the materials or have questions about the program.
What Are the Risks of Participation?
The risks associated with this program are minimal. Participation may involve completing questionnaires or pre- and post-program surveys designed to measure program effectiveness. Youth may discuss topics related to relationships, communication, and personal decision-making.
Participation is voluntary, and youth may decline to answer any question they are not comfortable with.
Confidentiality
Every effort will be made to protect the privacy of participating youth.
• Students will not be identified by name in any evaluation reports.
• Data collected from surveys will be coded and analyzed in aggregate form only.
• No personally identifiable information will be shared outside of the program.
Benefits of Participation
We hope the information taught in the Love Notes program will help youth:
• Build strong and healthy relationships
