  • CAIMUN Committee Staff Application

  • Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in a committee staff position at Canada International Model United Nations (CAIMUN).

Throughout this application portal, you will be asked to fill in basic and general information regarding yourself, along with a series of essay-based questions and other miscellaneous inputs and additional information.

Please keep in mind the word limit on the long-form answer portion of the application is only a maximum word count. It is not a recommendation or a requirement for how long your responses should be. So long as your responses are well crafted, length is mostly irrelevant.

Toward the end of the portal, you will be asked to submit your resume and a writing sample as a PDF file. All other document types will not be accepted.

To avoid loss of answer progress and for ease and convenience, we heavily suggest all applicants view then copy the long-form questions onto a separate document and complete their answers there prior to submitting them on this portal.

Following the submission of your application, you will be notified via email whether you have been selected for an interview.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email us at cos@caimun.ca.

    Best regards,

    The CAIMUN Secretariat

  • Director - Directors are responsible for facilitating and guiding debate in their respective committees. They must have a thorough understanding of their topics, prepare an extensive background guide to assist delegates in their research, and prepare crisis plans. Directors will need to ensure that delegates are following their foreign policies and be able to diversify debate. This role requires significantly more time commitment and strong writing skills.

Chair - Chairs are responsible for operating ChairMUN and maintaining order throughout the conference. As such, they must have a thorough understanding of the Rules of Procedure and be able to provide clarifications regarding the debate procedure for inexperienced delegates. They must facilitate a welcoming committee environment for all delegates while ensuring that discussion remains on topic.

Assistant Director - The Assistant Director is the most versatile role in the committee and assists in the goal of ensuring the committee's functions are executed as smoothly as possible. Assistant Directors often end up performing many duties of the Director and the Chair to free up their Dais members' focus. Assistant Director applicants could be less experienced in MUN or less confident in their ability to staff a committee initially; they are essentially the do-all be-all of the committee, flexing their responsibilities into every post necessary.
