  • Thank you for your interest in the 'Let's Walk... Lefka!' outdoor education workshop for teachers organized by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR).

Lefka is perhaps best known for its connection to the mining industry in the twentieth century. But how did the town and its population change with the arrival of mining and the shift from agriculture to industry from the Ottoman to the British period?

In this workshop we will look at how study visits can supplement or enhance classroom teaching of subjects relating to human geography, as well as social and economic history by examining the historic centre of one of Cyprus’ foremost mining towns.

This workshop is addressed to teachers in primary and secondary education interested in developing their capacity to design and lead outdoor, inquiry-based and experiential learning activities.

Participation is free and all participants will receive a certificate of attendance as well as a copy of AHDR's handbook 'Classroom without Walls: A Teacher's Guide to Engaging with Significant Sites' (2 volumes).
