Digital Transformation & Social Inclusion as Drivers for Universal Energy Access and Just Energy Transition

Focus: SDG 7

OBJECTIVE:
- Examine how AI and digitalization are reshaping energy system planning, operation and delivery in the context of SDG7, with a focus on real-world performance rather than technological potential alone.
- Identify governance, skills and institutional capacity gaps that limit the effective and equitable use of digital tools in energy systems, particularly where adoption is outpacing oversight.
- Clarify how young people can contribute to system design, oversight and operational decision-making, and where institutional barriers continue to limit that contribution.
- Generate concrete, policy-relevant recommendations that can inform ECOSOC Youth Forum outcomes and feed into the 2026 HLPF review of SDG7.

Fossil Fuels to Geopolitical Security: Energy Transition, Children's Health & Pollution
Organisers: MGCY SDG7 Youth Constituency, CYI, YOUNGO Energy Working Group, IAYSP, Glocal Youth Caucus
Focus: SDG 7 · SDG 3 · SDG 16 · SDG 17

OBJECTIVE:
- Raise youth awareness of the interlinkages between fossil fuel phase-out, energy geopolitics, and global peace and security.
- Amplify youth voices on the health impacts of fossil fuel combustion and war pollution on children, including the accelerating AMR crisis.
- Advocate for the redirection of fossil fuel subsidies and war financing into health, education, and clean energy infrastructure (!) particularly in the Global South.
- Generate concrete youth-led recommendations aligned with SDG 7, SDG 16, SDG 3, and SDG 17 for submission to the 2026 HLPF.
- Strengthen coalitions between MGCY, CYI, YOUNGO Energy Working Group, SDG7 constituency, health advocacy organisations, peace networks, and Fossil Fuel Phase-Out orgs. and climate justice movements.
- Identify governance, peace, and geo-political gaps that limit the effective and justified growth of the social economy, with the social cost of carbon attached to global conflicts and directly affecting health and global security.
