  • Thank you for your interest in applying for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Iota Omega Omega (IOO) Chapter Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to a graduating senior in the Kershaw County School District who has excelled in academics and demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. The winning applicant will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Each applicant is encouraged to follow the guidelines listed below to ensure that thecompleted document is an accurate representation of your accomplishments.
  • To complete the application process, please complete the following steps:

    • Review the application with your school counselor and/or parents.
    • Complete the application and use the Application Checklist to ensure all documentation is included.
    • Make sure the completed application package includes the following:
  • Applications must be postmarked or received electronically by April 10, 2026. No late applications will be accepted. Scholarship recipients will be notified by May 3, 2026

  • The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Iota Omega Omega Chapter Scholarship is awarded to a graduating female senior in the Kershaw County School District who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and community service.
  • Scholarship Award: $1,000
  • Application Requirements:
    • Completed Scholarship Application
    • Essay (500–750 words)
    • Three Letters of Recommendation
    • Official High School Transcript
  • Applications must be submitted by the announced deadline to the Scholarship Committee.

  • Academic Excellence

    • Applicant must be a female graduating high school senior.
    • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • Must submit three letters of recommendation:
    • Teacher of record
    • An active member of the Iota Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
    • Community member not related to the applicant.
  • Service in School and Community

    • Participate in at least one school organization.
    • Participate in at least one community service organization.
    • Demonstrate leadership among peers.
  • Personal Characteristics

    • Exhibit moral character, honesty, and loyalty.
    • Demonstrate responsibility, punctuality, and initiative.
    • Maintain a desirable discipline record.
