As Centre Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the Junior Summer Programme onsite. Leading the team, safeguarding students and ensuring the programme runs smoothly, safely and in line with standards. You will balance structure with warmth and organisation with care, creating an environment where both students and staff can thrive within a fully immersive 24/7 residential setting.
Role Snapshot
Salary: £850–£950 per week (dependent on experience and Pro rata for planning and preparation phase)
Contract: Fixed-term (1 June – 5 or 10 August)
Hours: 50 hours per week onsite (1.5 days off per week).
Locations:
- Planning Phase: Remote working for 20 hours from 1 June
- Preparation Phase: Cardiff from 22 June (self-catered accommodation provided)
- Onsite Phase: Monmouth, Wales or Mayfield, East Sussex from 5 July for 4 or 5 weeks
Residential: Full-board accommodation provided during the onsite phase
Who We Are
Celtic English Academy is the largest English language centre in Wales, with over 20 years’ experience delivering high-quality English language education to international students.
Our Junior Summer Programme welcomes young people aged 11–17 from around the world to take part in immersive residential programmes combining English language learning, cultural experiences, activities and excursions. In 2026, we will operate across two centres: Monmouth and Mayfield.

As Centre Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the success of the Junior Summer Centre.
You will lead and support the staff team, safeguard students, oversee operations and ensure that the programme meets both regulatory requirements and the high standards expected by students, parents and partners. This is a demanding role that requires calm leadership, sound judgement and emotional resilience, but it is also highly rewarding for someone who thrives in fast-paced, people-focused environments.
What You Will Be Doing
- Leading and managing the on-site staff team
- Overseeing daily operations and problem-solving within a 24/7 residential environment
- Acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Ensuring compliance with British Council standards and internal policies
- Managing budgets, transport, logistics and reporting
- Supporting student and staff wellbeing
- Liaising with venues, group leaders and senior management
- Ensuring health and safety standards are met and documented
- Completing a two-week preparation phase in Cardiff prior to centre opening
You will complete remote planning from 1st June with two weeks of preparation in Cardiff prior to the centre opening.
Who We Are Looking For
Essential Experience, Skills, Education, Training & Qualifications
- Proven leadership and centre management experience
- Experience working with young people aged 11–17
- Strong organisational, communication and decision-making skills
- English proficiency at C2 level
- Safeguarding training suitable for acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead
