FAQs & Important Info
- Who can sign up?
- Representatives of independent cinemas from across the world!
- This form is not for the public, but we encourage the public to participate by heading to their nearest independent cinema that is on our official cinema participation list on July 30th to celebrate with peers from all over the map.
- Why would I sign up my cinema for AHTD?
- Signing up for AHTD allows our team to put your cinema on our official list of participating exhibitors on our site, publicly available map, and any further communications surrounding AHTD 2026.
- Signing up your cinema allows us to send you our official AHTD design collateral, exclusive materials with our ambassador, press outreach materials, available AHTD swag, and access to bookings through our official slate.
- If I want to participate in Art House Theater Day, am I required to play one of these films?
- While we recommend choosing titles from the official AHTD programming slate to further connect our cinemas across the world on this day, we understand that bookings are sometimes difficult to balance with other first runs, special events, or repertory programming.
- So, whether you are screening one of our slate titles or you have something else already planned, we encourage you to sign up to be a part of our broader community of independent cinemas on AHTD 2026.
- When is ART HOUSE THEATER DAY 2026?
- Our 7th annual ART HOUSE THEATER DAY will be held on Thursday, July 30th, 2026.
- Bookings are not limited to July 30th — You’re free to book as many screenings of the film(s) on additional dates that make sense for your organization into the weekend and through the following playweek.
- When can I expect the programming slate to be announced?
- Our programming team is working to finalize our slate by mid-April, but you can expect a selection of six independent films from a variety of genres from multiple distributors — Something for everyone!
- Boots' film Sorry to Bother You has already been included in our lineup for 2026. Booking information can be found in your email upon sign up.
- How will Boots Riley be involved?
- Similar to 2025 with our ambassadors Sean Baker and Samantha Quan, by signing up this year, you can expect additional promotional materials for your cinema to promote in the weeks leading up to AHTD 2026 with additional on-screen assets for July 30th, including a Q&A with Boots Riley, among other items.
- Boots' film Sorry to Bother You has already been included in our lineup for 2026.
- What happens after I sign up my cinema?
- As an official representative of your theater and by sharing your contact information with our staff, you will recieve periodic emails with further details on AHTD as they come including booking options, design collateral, promotional materials, and exclusive assets.
- Is there a deadline to sign up?
- Yes! Our deadline to be a part of our official AHTD participating cinemas list is June 1st, 2026. This allows our team time to build our official map and publish it in additional exclusive materials. If you should sign up passed this deadline, you will be included in our mailing list for AHTD assets and booking information and our publicly available list of participating cinemas, but there may be merchandise or press releases you will be left out of.
